Originally the Bowery Savings Bank, the building was constructed in 1893 and is a national landmark. Now regarded as one of the most luxurious event spaces in all of Manhattan, Capitale is adorned with tall Corinthian columns, a soaring ceiling, and an art glass skylight.

Garish opulence haunts this Stanford White-designed Beaux Arts national landmark that once housed the former Bowery Savings Bank. Now it’s part of the David Marvisi nightlife empire.

Featuring a ballroom with 75-foot ceilings supported by marble Corinthian columns as well as a 4,000-square-foot restaurant and four private tasting rooms with Internet access, Capitale is outrageously over the top, with its billowing curtains and ferns-in-urns décor, particularly in these economic times.

Private functions only, though a high-end restaurant is open for business. A monstrosity of excess redolent of the go-go 1980’s and truly the height of metropolitan vulgarity.
