clubZone Interview DJ Rubix
Rubix aka Jordy Stokvis, born and raised in The Netherlands, started playing as a DJ at the age of 18, but he went fast-forward since then. In the last five years he has gained a wealth of experience as a DJ by playing in the finest clubs all around the world.  With his residency at one of Holland’s most infamous parties, “GirlsLoveDJs”, Rubix is a definite favorite amongst the Dutchies as well. Rubix’ sets contains everything from “Nu Disco” to “House” and from “Electro to Dubstep”. His first hit-record “Baiser sur la Disco” got 70 000 views on YouTube and has found its way onto the first “GirlsLoveDJs” compilation. This track is madly supported among scene-heroes like Boemklatsch, Crookers and of course Laidback Luke. Luke also showed his love by playing Rubix’ remix of C-Code’s “Burning up in Here” on the French radio station FG. With releases on notorious labels such a Southern Fried and Sound Pellegrino, the success story of this youngster continues.  With one foot firmly planted in Disco’s influential past, and one in dance music's future, Rubix is the man to watch!

For those of our readers who aren’t familiar with you, how would you describe your sound?

I have a big music collection so I always go all over the place. The beginning of the night would be more disco, house, & deep house. The end of the night I always go a bit harder. Think Bart B More kind of style.

What made you want to get started in the music industry?

Producing music and playing your favorite tunes in front of a crowd that dance to it is the best hobby in the world

What did you want to be when you were growing up? Did you know you wanted to be a DJ?

It was always a dream... But I feel really lucky it worked out. If I wouldn't be a DJ/producer I think I would work in the advertising industry.

You have a residency at one of Holland’s most infamous parties, “GirlsLoveDJs”. Do you think this is true; do girls really love DJ’s?

The music video for “Baiser sur la Disco” is pretty great too – was this your idea? What’s your favorite music video of all time?

No it was not my idea… Tom Waist of Homework made it… He just has an archieve with the craziest video material and did some really cool editing!

I heard you’re starting your own party imprint, “Club Sandwich” – Can you tell us a bit about this?
