What is an appropriate age gap for people to see each other? I need some help on this one as I have some decisions to make.

how old are you ? how old is she ? im 25 and personally would never date or see anyone younger than 22, or older than 30 thats just personal preference thou as with regards to something long term as i think people in that age bracket can make a good go of things without being at different stages of their lives and want different things. if ur 30 and shes 18 - i think that can be complex and it never usually works out but there is obv excpetions to the rule and some folks in that posistion will stay together a life time. i guess it all depends on what ur looking for from her, long term / short term fling etc.

That's only five years Frazer. I've dated women 15 years older than me and 18 years younger. It's all good.

Two times in a row I was with someone 10/11 years younger than me. I don't think this age difference works in the long run. Today a 29 year old wanted to put his legs over mine as he lay down after a good meal. I was very trepidacious about this as I would just wanna be strictly platonic friends. I prefer guys my own age, one in particular, but still I think I might be too old for his liking. Whatever people are comfortable with, but just from years of observation, I would say generally speaking it is better if the woman is a couple years younger for long lasting relationships. Who said life was fair, lol. It depends what you're after, but I personally want love and manogamy, in whatever form it works out right, and if not ... just be on my own.

It's up to you really. Everyone and every situation will differ. It all boils down to where you both are individually in life and if those places you are each at mesh. Generally I find it works best if the guy is the one with the higher age. It seems to work better that way better then if the female were the older one. The "gap" seems to change the older you get. For instance... if I were 15 and dating someone 25 (10 year gap) it would be weird and also illegal. But if I were 25 and dating someone who was 35 it would be okay and would likely work out very well. See what I mean? But it's all what you are comfortable with. Skier and I have a 12 year gap. It doesn't even cross my mind and I really don't even notice/remember the age diff. half the time. I like the gap, I actually prefer it like this.

Let me add in a few more points that just crossed my mind, from the view point of someone who is 27 (which is probably what I would be thinking if I were her too) She's 27... chances are she is looking to settle down, is over her partying days and is probably looking for a long term relationship hoping to settle down, get married and start a family. She is probably set in her career and has established herself and is looking for the same in a partner. She may see dating a guy who is 22 a waste of her time considering the fact that he is still young, in the midst of his partying, still has a few wild oats to sew and genearlly probably doesn't have his life together or figured out yet (ie. doesn't know what he wants). She probably figures that settling down is the last thing on a guy this ages mind and such a thing is not even a thought (and not something that will become a thought for at least another few years). She likely thinks someone of this age has a lot more growing up to do, self discovery and is no where near being on the same level of maturity as someone her age. She probably sees a relationship with someone 5 years younger then her as a waste of time and maybe something that would only work as a fun fling. Of course -- she could be the complete opposite. But in that case I don't think she would be worrying or caring too much about a little 5 year age difference. I dunno this was just a thought. It's how I'd likely feel if it were me. the clock starts ticking a lot faster and louder the closer a woman gets to 30. It really freaks some chicks out. ps) I'm not saying u are like this at all... it's just a general stereotype and probably true for most guys this age... at least from what I have found.
