Burlesque Beauties dance show kicks-off the $1 million, newly renovated Stadium Club Edgewater Casino, which sits in the heart of downtown Vancouver on the shores of False Creek, is about to recreate those spicy, rambunctious times by bringing back burlesque to its new Stadium Club theatre with the Burlesque Beauties show on May 30 and 31.
The Beauties with eye-catching names, not to mention figures, such as Miss Chi Chi, Miss Kitty Kat, Miss Mia, Miss Roxy and Miss Victoria are bound to stir the hearts and passions of many with their exciting, titillating, sassy, sexy performance.
The Vancouver group, clad in luscious lingerie, love getting a rise out of their audiences, but they also take their craft extremely serious and enjoy their work. And real work it is. All are thoroughly trained professional dancers who never stop training on the strict choreography and timing which burlesque demands.
Carla Catherwood, who founded the group, says the show is “definitely not just for men!”. She adds, “Many women who take in the performance say they want to emulate us and adore how we interact with them. That makes them comfortable and they actually become part of the show. Women love it more, when we are on stage we cater to women, we love being women with women."
In fact, Catherwood says, her group has helped “rescue and resuscitate” a once dying and cultural theatre art. "It is a dance show, not a striptease,” she stresses.
