Yeh but he works 12 hr+ shifts on a regular basis. So his day will almost be done by the time he gets back. It would just suck if his partner is a non driver and he has to do ALL the driving.

Plus he gets to see Windsor He's seen more on Ontario in the year he's been here then i have lol.

ambulances in alberta are considered part of private health care...not covered under standard health, and yes it does cost that much if someone else calls them for you, you have a right to refuse the treatment and therefore not be charged. In the case of your little one though, I can see why you wouldn't refuse medical care for her, especially if your dr called. Standard Blue Cross pays for ambulances, but the premiums you pay outweigh what they will pay out if you don't utilize the whole coverage...your best bet? have Colin get a job that has a benefits package you're gonna need it with a baby.. hope she's ok *hugs*

We once drove my friend to the Hospital about an hour and a half away because he refused to get an ambulance (because of the bill) That's the problem with certain jobs like he has (cooking) there is no coverage at all... Basically living paycheck to paycheck Anyways it was a freaky experience.... Oh and by the way his appendix was about to burst, which reminds me; we drove slow because all of the bumps were painful for him. So it took us over two hours....

They can decide to cheak a box on the PCR report to make you pay or not you must have looked like you had money, next time where old ripped stained clothes lol , anyway just don't pay it , there is nothing thay can do about it under the Canadian health act you legaly don't have to pay it , just like Alberta health premiums you don't have to pay it , if they call you to pay it ,read the health act where it states every citizen of Canada is entitled to free health care

But the ambulance service may be run by the city you are in, like they are here, and not the federal government, so maybe that is why they can bill.
I don't know, though.

EMS is Government up here, it's private in the states like Gerber and AMR

That's not true, I've been sent a letter from the Alberta Queens Bench Court house, they can take you to court and guanshee (sp?) wages to make you pay, both alberta premiums (seen a friend be warned court action too) and the ambulance fee. The ambulance fee I finally fought because I DID argue and say no to their services and they told me to go anyways because they'd make it so I didn't have to pay.. then I got a bill anyway. Anywho, fought it after the courts sent me a letter and I won so it wasn't a big deal, but they CAN make you pay it. At least in alberta anyway.

Lets see i have no idea what i'm talking about , so yes i just made it all up , obviously you went about in the wrong way , go read the Canada health act from front to back.
I'm telling you under the Canadian health act you can not be forced to pay premiums there is a loop hole . You may have been sent a letter but as for having to legally pay it , if you do your homework you don't have to . As for your ambulance ride if they told you they could make it so you didn't have to pay and you got a bill ,it depends on how bad you annoyed the medics on rout.

attitude much?

Just saying what the government of alberta, and the court people, you know those kind that can sort of.. make you pay out the rear or put you in jail or confiscate stuff said.

Not everyone knows how to fight stuff, and not everyone wins, I'm not going to tell my friend not to pay cause she doesn't have to when I've been told by the government that you have to.
