went to the mail box today.. a lovely $376 bill for my daughters 10 minute ambulance ride 2 weeks ago...and why are paramedics so lowly(is that word? :P) payed.. **** ...im gonna send the bill to her doctor tho since shes the one that called them.

I think they bill the passenger, not she who called the ambulance..

That said, isn't this where the vaunted Candian medical system kicks in and covers everything?

really??? isnt almost everything free?

i had last week all tests (blood, urine) ultrasound, cat scan, pap test etc. at fredericton hospital, stayed half day there and was charged for nothing.

there was a chance though i would pay if i had a surgery or laparoscopy as first was a possibility, but nobody warned me for such.

i wonder why ambulances are charged since i guess its an emergency call....

That sucks!!

But the ambulance service may be run by the city you are in, like they are here, and not the federal government, so maybe that is why they can bill.

I don't know, though.

In Toronto it's at the paramedics discresion to bill the person or not. But if they do it's only $150

My mom had to call an ambulance for my dad back in December and never got billed.

However most medical plans though employers cover ambulance costs.

I think mine covers 2 ambulance calls per year.

here 9 out of 10 hospitals are due to the public health system, so are the ambulances, so even if you call them 20 times per year , no charge

but i guess that is why public health becomes worse in services year by year

I recently got my bill for when I stumbled into the ER with pneumonia and was close to dying.

I was okay paying that one.

yeah my ambulance bill was over 300 when i needed it, alberta health doesnt cover it.

our insurance covers it in ontario... when i broke my leg i need an ambulance and it didn't cost me anything.

Yeh but he works 12 hr+ shifts on a regular basis. So his day will almost be done by the time he gets back. It would just suck if his partner is a non driver and he has to do ALL the driving.

Plus he gets to see Windsor

He's seen more on Ontario in the year he's been here then i have lol.
