I am curious to know what every promoter is doing to effectively market there events. With the internet continuing to grow hurting many traditional methods of marketing what internet resources are you taking advantage of free and paid. Here are some: Internet: E-flyers Internet Ads on websites like CZ E-mail blast Myspace Media Coverage Getting them listed on websites like CZ Others: Flyers??? (Slowly going away) Radio Commercial Print

Don't forget: - Giving out free stuff to people directly - having contests by giving out ballots which needs to be dropped off in person

Yeah that's a good one. Free giveaways always makes a good relationship with customers they will most likely come back and tell their friends which uses the best market strategy 'word of mouth'. Nice.

yeah I will be doing some t-shirt and hat give aways this summer. I haven't done the e-flyer thing yet but I have seen some that are really good. I have done the direct email thing before, but I generally use sites like this one and myspace to post flyers and do event invites. My only problem here on CZ is that they do not have many active Seattle members to promote to. Don't believe me do a Seattle members search for people online. I will most likely be the only person you see from Seattle, lol.

Flyers are still really effective but not as many flyers are needed these days. Not when you can create, post and copy and paste a flyer a million times on all these social sites. But flyers will always be a tool for promoters. A major promo tool that I see in Seattle is the car or truck graphic wraps. If you can afford it, that is for sure the way to go. There are even companies out here that will pay you to place there brand logo on your wrap and clock the miles you drive around exposing them.

Your right Seattle is not a big player on this website but it is on other websites like clubplanet.com which currently has around 40,470 registered users also napkinnights.com but i don't have exact figures for them. they are not global sites like clubzone but all you need is the local Seattle market. i also know a couple of more sites, each city usually has there local 'known' website. You know of any for Seattle im always curious to see how they operate.

I know of some promoters who no longer use flyers here in Los Angeles only e-flyers but your right they are still being used but no longer in the quantities that were used in the past. I say as the internet continues to grow one day we wont see flyers anymore. Actually because more people are going to the internet the prices of radio ads are decreasing along with other traditional marketing methods.

Yeah I have signed up with both Napkin Nights and ClubPlanet. Club Planet is coo but it has a little cleaning up to do in the area of Seattle. I was checking there listings and some of those clubs have been closed for years but they do have high numbers. Napkin Nights is coo. I just started using that site so I will have to see whats up with it over the months of the summer. I use all these sites because the more the better. When it comes to using any of these sites to sell tickets through, it is still a toss up. But yo, I must say that it is refreshing to see someone on here using this site for what it was made to be used for, network and pass along info. Not just to chat and waste time.

You can also have big breasted babes holding signs or having something on their T-shirts. That's just great promotion.

One of the things many of these websites are lacking are a good networking community. Many people have failed to use websites that target their market. They have turned to myspace for all their needs as far as networking goes but myspace doesn't really have a real network for the nightclub industry. It wasn't constructed for that. But I will tell you a secret I am working on a website that has just that an efficient network for professionals and new comers to the industry. It's in the works. You right about having many old listings they lack current updates. So there is a lot of incorrect information for the simple reason that it's something anyone can put up. The other thing is be careful with the numbers you get from websites like if they tell you they have 500 subscribers are those counting the inactive users? The ones who haven’t logged in, in the past year? You can't count those. Many accounts are created and never used again so the real number might be 300-400?

Sex does sale. Many websites now offer media coverage which in my opinion is a nice tool to show clubbers what kind of people make up you club. If you have a lot sexy people that's a plus because you will get a good return. I knew this club which had a lot of 'models' on there ads that where supposed to be their crowd but when you got to the club you didn't see anyone like that. But they got me to go! That's why depending where you especially in some clubs in Hollywood the only way to get in it's if the doorman thinks you’re hot because they don't want ugly people in their club. Discrimination? Definitely surprised they haven’t been any present lawsuits. Good way to make money sue a club if you in the need of some money :)

I do use myspace a lot but it is not the only site I use to promote. I would love to use this site way more to promote my events and live hip-hop shows but there just aren't any active users from Seattle on here. And that sucks because as of late CZ has had some advertisers from this area on the site. What they don't know is that they are only reaching people in Canada and why in the hell come here to Seattle to party if you live in Canada, lol. Especially Vancouver B.C.. I am moving away from doing a lot of flyer printing because there isn't a reason to print 5,000 flyers anymore for events. A simple thousand or 1500 is good and just hit the mane areas where the scene is poppin' and your good. I have a packed house at Tost Lounge in Fremont last year in October and me and the dj only post and handed out about 500 or 600 flyers. The rest of the promo was online and word of mouth. Some times just knowing people is the key. If you are a nobody who the hell is coming to your events. Having females promote with skimpy clothes is always a great idea, just gotta find the ones that want to do it for free to be part of the team ya' dig. If it aint free then I will do the job myself. Last thing, book with a club that advertises in weekly newspapers often. There ads help you so much its like a turn key type if situation. All you have to do is put the theme together and book the DJ and do a little promotions.
