Did you miss Boom Bash 3? It was hilarious. Sheena Metal may not be a punk rocker, but she's funnier than shit and has a mouth filthier than mine. If you can imagine that. Actually her song book is a classic. Pick one up if you get a chance to see her band Beer Bong. It's Metal Drag Rock. More camp than cabaret, but a really fun laugh a minute ride.
I don't know what was up with my boys, but Thirty Round Clip rocked the fucking house. Those guys should be playing bigger venues. I predict we'll be seeing them on MTV in the near future. Man they were AMAZING! In spite of Kevin losing the strap to his bass and actually dropping the damn thing, and Boom breaking a snare head, they held it together like pros and no one but me even saw or noticed what happened. Tight, sweaty and aggressive, just like I like my metal. And if you know me, you know, I don't like metal.
The band that wigged me out from the get go was Bullets and Halos. Bunch of biker street freaks rode hard and hung out wet to dry from the San Jose area. They blew in about 90 minutes BEFORE they had to be on stage, and what a surprise. The drummer is the throat for the band. Which makes them a bit of an enigma to watch. Crazy ass mix between thrash punk and metal. Great way to jump start the night.
And what the hell was going on with all the bumping and grinding in the bar? Man, I was afraid to walk through to use the bathroom. Nothing like having to fight the leg humping miniature schnauzers off when you have to piss, ya know? Even more hilarious was when I witnessed two middle aged dudes almost duking it out over a place to sit at the bar. I'd get it if they were arguing over some chick, but a bar stool? Can you say beer goggles?
All I gotta say is if you like shenanigans, big noise and big fun, then Boom Bash 4 on the Fourth promises to be filled with just that. So why don't you stay local, make some serious noise and come party laka rock star? E Pluribus BOOM! Baby!
