BIOGRAPHY
Fiasco’s
style is enviable, as the beats are always booming and the vibe deep,
but his infectious (not to mention expansive) take on house continually
breathes new life into the sound.—Urb Magazine
In an industry
where one strives to earn respect as a DJ, not many claim mastering the
art of producing and as a DJ. Juan Lopez has based his entire life
cultivating his Chicago skills and has performed in every major city in
the world, showing exactly how to push the envelope and take his
listeners thru a journey of intense peaks and lush valleys and
dissolves any belief that he is a “studio only” producer. Merging the
two forms has been his passion and his life.
Over the past
twenty years, Johnny Fiasco has become a legend and recognized as a
true pioneer in of Chicago's house scene. This impressive producer and
remixer logs 150k plus frequent-flyer miles a year spinning at clubs
and special events globally, from Space Lab Yellow in Tokyo to Subclub
in Glasgow, including every major city in US. His remarkable sound can
gracefully combine acid, soulful electronic sounds, tech vibes,
fundamental house, disco, and pure funk.
Fiasco’s beginnings
can be found at Chicago’s Shelter with Mark Farina and Derrick Carter,
pushing the boundaries by pioneering house music at Smartbar, Crowbar,
Lizard Lounge and the infamous Club Naked. Since then Fiasco continues
to DJ, produce and remix his one true love—house. “My category is house
music. If someone asks me what I play: ‘It is house.’ It’s techy, it’s
hard, it’s disco, it’s vocally, and it’s all of the above, really. The
spectrum is pretty wide and that’s why I am so in love with house
music.”
Today, Fiasco is one of Om Records top producers and
remixers. Fiasco’s "Things that go bump in the night" is currently one
of Om records best selling single to date. Additionally, Johnny’s
remixes of Soulstice "Lovely" to Kaskade's "Meditation to the Groove"
and now Bassnectar's "Yo" Remix have become an integral part of the Om
Records unique sound. Other remixes have included work with Kaskade,
Greenskeepers, Joey Youngman, Jake Childs, Troydon, Freerange,
Nightshift, MN2S, Jive Records, Head Kandi and Quiet City.
2007
Billboard Credits Johnny Fiasco’s -Samantha James "Rise" #1 chart
position and Beatport’s #1 download in December of 2006. Remarkably,
Fiasco's vast remix catalogue includes pop icons such as Gloria
Estefan, KD Lang, Michelle Indegeochelo, and Donna Blakely. In 2003,
one of his remixes was a #1 Billboard® chart-topping dance floor rework
of Justin Timberlake's smash single "Cry Me A River." Johnny has
recently been engaging new audiences with The "Klassik Fiasco"
re-releases almost ten years later.
Without a doubt a Fiasco
record can always be found in record crates of DJs worldwide. Aside
from his tour de force, the masterful and accomplished Fiasco
continually reinvents himself through his timeless house music
creations.
