Come check out this brand new night with Halifax's newest signing sensation Menina. Onyx was voted into the top ten of Canada's newest restaurants in 2004. This year Where to Eat In Canada awarded Onyx a rating of 3 stars with only 28 other restaurants in Canada getting the same rating. The atmosphere and entertainment will be second to none at this awesome venue so come check out great beats, great drinks and one amazing singer.
MENINA
Courageous Productions’ first vocalist, Menina, grew up in Toronto, Ontario where she trained in piano, vocal music, theatre and dance. To pursue her love of music further, Menina, studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto for singing and keys. There she was trained classically in performance, composition, and music theory. Menina also worked in professional musical theatre at a very young age, as she understudied the part of “Leisel” in the production of "The Sound of Music" at the acclaimed Stratford Festival of Canada. This vocalist is also a proud Arts York vocal music graduate of Unionville High School for the Performing Arts in Ontario, where, she was schooled primarily in classical singing as well as jazz and musical theatre. Menina discovered her love for electronic and house music as a dancer on Electric Circus every Friday night on Much Music. There, she was incredibly lucky to meet several international DJs and vocalists who set the standard in the electronic music scene. Menina takes her musical influence from jazz, soul, R & B, hip hop, house, classical music and her Latin background. She is very proud to be a part of Courageous Productions and is excited to collaborate with some of the most talented DJs and producers on the East Coast.
ONYX
With a backlit bar made from real onyx, it sets the standard for chic in Halifax. The menu offers sharing platters and a two- or three-course Prix Fixe menu that changes weekly. Mojitos, a Cuban cocktail made with muddled fresh tropical fruit, are the specialty. The wine list features 150 wines by the bottle and over 30 by the glass. The attentive staff will decant wines tableside and all are served in varietal specific Riedel stemware.
