The theme Mosaics will be explored by Fond of Tigers and the Secret Mommy Quintet thusly: the most recent albums by each band will be broken up (electronically) into small musical shards, then rearranged into two new and reorganized pieces to be learned and played (with live instrumentation) by each band. This process challenges ideas of structure, expectation, authorship, and musical memory, while forcing the musicians to not only learn aspects of another band’s music, but also to re-approach their own music in terms of placement, dynamics, effect and structure. The experimental and progressive nature of each group will ensure the concept is well-executed, while their reputations for intense and engaging live performances will ensure that the evening will be a rewarding, exhilarating experience for the audience.
