Taal Mala
Killing sound since '97, Taal Mala is tearing up the dancefloors and doin' it to ya in the earhole with warbling sub frequencies that have been known to rupture an internal organ or two. His music encompasses a mashup of dubstep, dancehall, reggae, and breaks with throbbing basslines glitched out ragga vibes, turntablism, and complex riddim changes that will warp your perception of dancefloor music. Taal Mala has killed soundboys along side Bassnectar, Bluetech, Edit, The Seedling Escape, Subswara, and Kraddy, to name a few. Releases on his own label SUB OSC (co-founded with Maximus) to come in '06.
Lazy Rich
Originally from the UK, Lazy Rich's immense passion for house music led him to start DJing in 2000. His enthusiasm and ability to impress a crowd quickly earnt him numerous residencies, during which time he played alongisde DJs such as D.Ramirez, Deepgroove and the Trophy Twins.
Rich moved to Vancouver in 2004 and got straight to work building up his profile as one of the city's top electro-house DJs. Through his regular bookings in the Vancouver club and rave scene, plus the distribution of his popular downloadable mixes Rich has gained a considerable local and even international following, with performances at the Miami 2008 Winter Music Conference and a residency at Hollywood Fridays at the infamous Lotus Sound Lounge.
In 2007 Rich turned his head to production, and saw immediate success with remixes for Dave Armstrong, Jason Herd and Jon Fitz on Lowered Recordings. Rich has now joined forces with Amaan Hirshee, Jeff Daniels and Oliver Nickels to start Stereo Soul Recordings, a new house label that is set to make a major assault on the electronic music charts with releases by Sandy Vee and Hatiras.
With a selection of huge summer tracks forthcoming on Plasmapool, Live to Tape, Sweet Cherry, Monofase and Stereo Soul Recordings, plus remixes for Sandy Vee and Miles Dyson, Lazy Rich is certain to become one of the big names in house music this year.
