The New Deal mark their 10 year anniversary with an intimate live recording at Lee’s Palace on September 6
When the NEW DEAL burst onto the music scene in 1998, electronic music was at its peak, having become the soundtrack to everything from video games to retirement home commercials. The New Deal's live interpretation of house, trance, breakbeat and drum and bass brought electronic music to live music fans and the band quickly found themselves at the forefront of a new genre of music, dubbed "Live Electro".
The New Deal's ten-year career has produced nine records, spawned countless Live Electro bands, garnered numerous award nods and continues to inspire an ever-growing audience throughout North America who flock to their sold-out concerts.
Their show at Lee’s Palace on September 6th marks the anniversary of their first pair of gigs at the notorious “Comfort Zone” in downtown Toronto. These were recorded live to cassette tape and shortly thereafter became the band’s debut record, entitled “This Is Live”.
With all band members involved in other projects as well as with busy family lives, their touring schedule is not the 100+ shows a year that it used to be. Their story, however, continues with the band recently playing sold-out shows in NYC, Philadelphia, Boston and across the United States. Having been dubbed “the Kraftwerk of the New Millennium”, the New Deal looks to the future with this special recorded evening at Lee’s Palace.
The New Deal is Jamie Shields - Keyboards, Darren Shearer - Drums/Beatbox Dan Kurtz - Bass
