Drastik has been dj'ing for just over 10 years now and in that time has proven himself as one of Canada's best! In his 5 years dj'ing competetively, Drastik won himself numerous titles including the prestigious Turnstylez Turnament (2003), a two-time Ottawa DMC Champion (03,04), Canadian DMC head to head (Supremacy) Champion (2004), Montreal DMC Champion (2005), Canadian DMC Champion (2005) and with his crew, Canadian DMC Team Champion (2006). Drastik competed in The 2004 DMC Battle for World Supremacy (head to head) in London England where he placed in the top 4 (semi finals) as well as the 2005 World DMC finals where he placed in the Top 10! Aside from being an accomplished battle dj and turntablist, Drastik is also known as a versatile club/mixtape dj. His set's and mixtapes are known to include anything from grimy baltimore club and hard electro, to indie rock, house, dirty south and whatever else gets the floor moving and speakers jumping! His unique blend of different genres mixed with his turntablist skill has earned him praise worldwide!
His accomplishments as well as his diversity as a dj have allowed him to share the stage with everyone from rap acts like 2 Live Crew, Tha Alkaholiks, Llyod Banks, Mobb Deep & Talib Kweli to turntablists like A-Trak, Kid Koala, Dj Craze, Klever & Roc Raida to party rocking dj's/acts like Chromeo, The Rub, Flosstradamus & Tittsworth to big room house dj's like Tommy Sunshine and Dirty South! His press includes appearances on BBC's 1xtra (rodney p n skitz show), MTV UK, CTV's Canada AM, Tag Radio, A Channel Ottawa, Much Music, a commercial on Much Vibe as well as articles in The Ottawa Citizen, The Ottawa Sun, Xclaim Magazine, X-press and many others nation/world wide!
In the summer of 2003, Drastik and Twrecks founded the Stylusts (www.stylusts.com). A turntablist/Dj/production collective consisting of Dj Illo, T-Wrecks and Drastik. The 3 were already known as Ottawa's best, so it was only right to join forces and take the city and country by storm! As a crew they have performed all over Canada from Halifax to Vancouver, done production and cuts for artists all over the country such as D.L Incognito, Tara Chase, Mathematik and Theology 3 and most recently, won the 2006 Canadian DMC teams battle! Each member brings something different and unique to the table all the while blending each others styles and techniques to make one serious click of dj's and producers. Wether it's winning major Dj titles, doing production and club dj'ing, to mixtapes, graphic design, clothing design and running some of Ottawa's best club nights , these dudes seriously have the game on smash!
And just like that DJ DRASTIK will set it off July 19th in Vancouver at The Jump-OFF at Stone Temple. DRASTIK will be dropping through Vancouver`s hottest new clubnight. The Jump-OFF is a new weekly club night that we started on June 21. It goes down inside The Stone Temple Night Club on Granville St (@ Helmcken) The concept of the night is to provide a quality product on the Granville strip going against the grain by playing the best in new club bangers, R&B, funk, hip hop classics, the old school jams. But were doing it right!! We have some of the illest dj's in Vancouver: Dj Arems, DJ Seko, and the TMS crew - Sense 1, A-Statik , and Maze Live on a weekly basis. As well we have special guests lined up for the summer including DJ IV (Classifieds DJ) Tech 12 (DL Incognito's DJ) + more to be announced soon!!
