DJ Dan and Donald Glaude
DJ Dan Bio
Long before periodicals like URB and BPM began sponsoring annual surveys of the world's favorite DJs, dance music lovers had already spoken, loud and clear, in favor of DJ Dan. From his rise through the early '90s Los Angeles rave scene, to his non-stop international agenda today (he traveled 150,000 miles in 2005 alone), Dan has continued to thrill audiences wherever he goes, from Sydney to San Paulo, Taiwan to Toronto. He has sold over 300,000 mix CDs in North America alone, been featured prominently on MTV and network television, rocked a crowd of over 50,000 LA New Year's Eve revelers in 1999, and was one of the first American DJs to play China.
Donald Glaude Bio
Confident. Exuberant. Raw. Innovative. These are just a few of the words industry insiders and fans have used to describe the talent behind one of America’s favorite house DJs, Donald Glaude. Ranked #68 on DJMag.com’s Top 100 DJs List in 2005, Donald skyrocketed to #48 this year and his genius keeps on growing…
Born in Tacoma, Washington, Donald’s love for music began at an early age. Originally a disciplined student of classical music, he was well-versed in the upright bass and violin. Any aspirations Donald had to continue in the classical vein vanished once he heard his first house record. With an ear for blending music already under his belt, and a love for the energy and soul of musical prodigies like George Clinton and Funkadelic, Donald began to amass a collection of house records which he taught himself to mix with a pair of mismatched turntables and a Radio Shack mixer.
Mark Farina
Mark Farina Bio
“I look at my job as a modern day traveling minstrel, to bring new music to as many places as I can, and expose obscure records that, otherwise, might go hidden.” While Mark Farina may be able to sum up his job description in a sentence, there is much more to be written. Mark developed his musical tastes in Chicago – listening to house music on the radio, living in one of the country’s most primordial breeding grounds for house. Around ’88, while record shopping at Imports, Etc., he met Derrick Carter and a friendship began. “I just ended up there between classes, I ended up buying his picks. He steered me toward the cutting edge House producers of the time.”
“I started playing when I lived with my parents and didn’t have any bills to pay so I could just buy records. My intentions were never to just make money, it’s nice, but it’s kind of turned into a job by accident - it was a hobby that turned into a job.”
