If a DJ's worth were measured by longevity alone, MARK DYNAMIX could hang up his slipmats. Having deejayed professionally for more than 15 years, Mark is a significant figure in Australian dance music culture. He's a part of its past, present and future; part of its identity. For many, he was the guy behind the decks when you first got into dance music, one of the DJs who changed what you thought music was about – from the early Field Of Dreams & Prodigy dance parties, Voodoo at Sublime on Pitt Street, Big Day Out tours across the country right up until the Ministry of Sound tours of now.

Longevity, as you know, doesn't just happen – you've got to work for it. And Mark didn't earn the title of "Australia's Hardest-Working DJ" (3D World Magazine, 2005)[1] for nothing. To date, he has 26 mix CDs to his name – 16 of which are for the Ministry of Sound juggernaut. He has toured Australia and New Zealand relentlessly. He has hosted a long list of radio shows over the years, interviewing folks like The Prodigy, Depeche Mode, Laurent Garnier & Basement Jaxx. Then there's the upkeep of his website www.markdynamix.com – the largest and most frequented of any Australian DJ which has bettered 1 million hits, highlighting his dedicated fanbase.

Of course none of this would mean anything if he didn't have the talent. Technically flawless, Mark's expertise with the decks combined with an inspired record selection works alchemy on a room full of clubbers, swaying anyone within earshot to become a dedicated dance music aficionado. Being this kind of DJ is more than just experience, more than finding cool new tunes or playing solid sets of house or electro; Mark knows how to pull it all together and how to turn a DJ set into an experience.

In 2006, Mark has added to his expansive resumé. In the last year he mixed three more compilations for Ministry of Sound: The Annual 2006 [[2]], Mixtape and the soon to be released Annual 2007. He was also busy working on original material, including the debut single "IDentify Me" which was playlisted on high rotation on Triple J, reached number 6 on the Aria Club Chart and was licensed to numerous compilations overseas. With remixes from Daniel Taylor and Chopstick adding an international flavour, "IDentify Me" was a standout addition to the Mixtape compilation, packaged as a CD single alongside the full CD mix. His second single "Destructor" showcases a more minimal electro sound, reflecting what Mark is playing in his DJ sets currently. With remixes from John Dahläck, Mashtronic, Jono Fernandez & Nick Galea with Matt Nugent; this stormer of a follow-up hit the shelves in late 2006.

On the remix front, Mark’s version of Earthquake by Mashtronic caused frenzy abroad recently with his mix propelling the track to debut at number 1 on the US Balance Record Pool chart. The Balance chart, compiled by 40 of the world’s leading DJ’s showcases the finest in cutting edge music and has been awarded the Best Record Pool Chart for the last 2-years at the Annual International IDMA Awards. The result demonstrates that Dynamix has what it takes to appeal to dance music enthusiasts worldwide. He also remixed Datarock’s I Used to Dance with My Daddy; which has been released as a single globally as well as appearing as a bonus track on the re-release “Australian Tour Edition” of Datarock’s full length album. The track is featured in Mark’s latest CD Discotek or you can download a preview of the track on his website www.markdynamix.com alongside previews of all his other productions and remixes. Naturally we’ll also see more remixes, of which Mark has also laid down his interpretations of Stisch's "Turn Around", Fine Young Cannibals' "Johnny Come Home" & Darren Hayes' "Darkness".

2006 also saw a milestone for Mark's CD sales. His mix for "The Annual" [2] became the highest selling compilation in the country ever, dance or otherwise. This brings the combined sales of Mark Dynamix mixed compilations to over one and a half million around the world! This is a massive achievement for any DJ & more than any other Australian DJ to date. Aside from two national tours to promote Mixtape & The Annual 2006 , he toured Europe and Canada, playing the esteemed Love Parade in Berlin, Mambo in Ibiza, The End[3] in London plus clubs and festivals in Stockholm, Hamburg, Bergen (Norway), Whistler, Banff and Vancouver. Back in Australia, his club residencies include Chinese Laundry (Sydney), Family (Brisbane), Academy (Canberra) & Platinum (Gold Coast) alongside regular guest spots around the country.

Mark again ranked highly in the Technics In The Mix "Best Australian DJ" poll, voted by the Australian public, ranking in the top 2 for the last 2 years.
