Disco is back! Shine Nightclub is excited to announce the return of Vancouver's longest running disco night, Discotronic, to The Lowdown Tuesdays.

VANCOUVER, BC- (June 22, 2009) The biggest, baddest disco night is back and taking care of some unfinished business. The original Disco Duo from the legendary Discotronic Tuesday nights at the Commodore Ballroom are back to funk up the city.

Featuring the finest in Disco, Funk and Rare Groove, DJ Chiclet and MC Velvet K are looking for the party people to put their weight on it once again as the night returns to The Lowdown Tuesdays at Shine Nightclub.

The longest running disco night in Vancouver, Discotronic, made a name for itself the day it started as a fresh faced club night in late 1999. Opening for disco legends like KC and the Sunshine Band, The Village People, Boney M, and Kool and the Gang, it wasn’t long before they had garnered a committed and party ready crowd. Loyal fans of the night would be found waiting in line-ups which wrapped around the block, adorned in afros, bell bottoms and butterfly collars, until Discotronic’s last days at The Commodore 5 years later.

Noticing that something was missing in the city, the duo had decided it was time to bring back this same style and experience that brought groove to the city’s nightlife. With Shine Nightclub’s recent renovations and it’s loyal clientele, the venue seemed to be the perfect location to bring back the funk.

The Grand Opening of Discotronic at The Lowdown is Tuesday, July 7. The Stash Room, a 70’s rock lounge, joins the night in the back room.
