2009 WORLD POLICE & FIRE GAMES ANNOUNCES
VANCOUVER SOUND-OFF
BATTLE OF THE POLICE & FIRE ROCK BANDS!
The 2009 World Police & Fire Games announced today that a musical search has been launched to find the best local Police and/or Fire Band to appear in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2009 World Police and Fire Games.
The Opening Ceremonies will take place on Friday, July 31st, 2009 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, and is expected to attract an audience of 15,000 people. The Closing Ceremonies will be staged on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.
“We are thrilled to announce another important event for the Games, this time taking place on the stage,” says Stu Ballantyne, Games CEO. “British Columbia is renowned for having world class talent and we want the discover the musical side of our emergency response industry because we know how much talent is out there!”
The events will take place on Thursday and Friday June 18 & 19 at the Shark Club in Vancouver. The band competition is open to singers or bands in any genre, so long as one member is a law enforcement or fire fighting personnel.
The top bands will be invited to perform at entertainment stages at the new Vancouver Convention Centre and Burnaby Lake sites. The winning band will be invited to perform at the Opening Ceremonies.
Interested groups should submit their tapes and promotion packages to World Police & Fire Games office at 6501 Sprott Street, Burnaby, BC V5B 3B8.

An estimated 12,000 participants representing law enforcement, customs, corrections, and fire and emergency service personnel from around the world will gather in Vancouver to compete in over 66 distinct sporting events for the 2009 World Police & Fire Games.
The Games will draw to its official end at Swangard Stadium with the two-hour Closing Ceremony on August 9, 2009. Vancouver’s John Donnelly & Associates will be producing these events.
