Mike Brillstein aka (thee) Mike B, born in Los Angeles, spent his high
school years working at Madonna’s Maverick Records where he was hired to
bring new artists and bands to the attention of the label’s head, Guy Oseary. Guy
asked Mike to forego his college plans and work full time at Maverick, but New
York City beckoned. Mike moved to NYC in summer 1997 to attend NYU’s Tisch
Film School where he majored in Film & TV Production.
He got his DJ start in NYC in 1998 opening for Junior Vasquez at the now
legendary Twilo nightclub. He spent the years to come as a resident at many of
NY’s most infamous night spots: Butter, Limelight, Cheetah, The Tribeca Grand,
NV, Marquee, Studio 54 and Lot 61, all the while producing records for 50 Cent,
Mobb Deep and many others with his close friend, mentor and DJ legend,
Stretch Armstrong.
During this time he defined his unique cross-genre DJ style fusing the best
of Electro, Rock, 80's, 90's, Hip-Hop, House and everything funky.
He ultimately relocated to his hometown in 2003 to further expand a newly
created TV production company he had started with a close friend. (They’ve
since produced pilots for MTV, The CW and most recently produced the E! series
“Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood”)
Upon arrival, he was almost instantly given a residency at the newly
opened White Lotus nightclub. Other spots were quick to follow suit as he soon
became a regular fixture at Hollywood mega-clubs such as Avalon, Vanguard,
Nacional, Guy’s, The Spider Room, Rok Bar, S Bar. As well as dates at Las
Vegas clubs like The Foundation Room and Risque.
To date he has done events for such diverse names as Eminem, DMX,
MTV, Ludacris, Vogue, Mickey Avalon, Black Book, Slash (Guns N Roses), Nike,
Adidas, Sex And The City, Willie Nelson, Chromeo, Vice Magazine and many,
many others.
He is currently still in LA where his residencies include Sean
McPhearson’s newest venture: Bar Lubitsch and another at LA’s funnest party,
Banana Split Sundaes, which he does weekly LAX nightclub with his pals DJ AM
and Steve Aoki. He continues to play clubs and parties all over America with
dates in Canada and Europe approaching.
