Vancouver's Infamous All Girl DJ Party
Featuring:
AMTRAK (Birthday Set)
A true DJ, her passion is her music; she is unpredictable and unprecedented. With a seductive melody, she takes her listeners on a journey, grabbing hold, and keeping them grooving long into the night. She is DJ AMtrak, and her world is a mix of deep and jazzy, funky and tribal, classy but sassy house music.
Ann McCullough (AMtrak) began her musical career by training on the clarinet and saxophone. Her love of music led her to amass a vast collection of vinyl. Her photographic memory proves to be a valuable asset when she is on the tables, helping her find to that record quickly, without missing a beat. She prides herself on her ability to "read the crowd" and many memories are made with her sets as the soundtrack.
Ann first got interested in Djing after seeing Donald Glaude spin an amazing set at Summer Love '96 in Vancouver. The experience had such an impact that she was determined to get behind the decks herself. And so the story began - and in only a few short years, she had catapulted herself from amateur DJ to one sharing the stage with some of the world's greatest in house music, including: Doc Martin, Danny Tenaglia, "Baby" Hec Romero, DJ Heather, Sandra Collins, Max Graham, and Anne Savage. AMtrak has been profiled by top music media- including Mixer, Electric Circus (Much Music), Tribe, Klublife, Fashion, Eye, and the Loop.
Most importantly, AMtrak has a following of fans in each city of the cities she plays in and has a reputation for "packing the venue." She currently holds a Saturday night residency at Element Bar in Toronto and a monthly residency at The Drink Nite Club in Vancouver. She is also working on original music, to be released
in 2003, on her own label, Records of Employment.
AMtrak is determined, hardworking, full of life and positive energy. Watch for this DJ as she mesmerizes crowds around the world with her signature style of deep, jazzy, funky, sassy, tribal house.
RHIA WELLBELOVE
Rhia Wellbelove is one of Vancouver's most sought after up and coming djs. Her vast knowledge and love of house music has brought her to the forefront of the Vancouver house scene. Rhia's strong performances have taken her to Vancouver's top night clubs and across Western Canada. Residency's at The Plaza Club, The Lotus, and Believe at The Red Room (voted Vancouver's #1 electronic weekly 2006 & 2007) has allowed her to polish her craft to near perfection.
Being influenced by her travels around the world Rhia has reached out to bring a diverse brand of house music to the dance floor with elements of electro, techno, and progressive with a funky dirty punch.
Her passion for music has aloud her to expand into her own production company, Ree Fresh Productions, by hosting various fund raisers for international relief and being apart of Canada's #1 electronic music festival (rated by Stuff Magazine) Apex Project for four years. With her hard work, enthusiasm, and creative witty persona Rhia Wellbelove is certainly a rising star that should not be missed.
AMANDA RUDE
They say timing is everything and in the world of music this couldn't be more true. A successful DJ must have not only a natural sense of rhythm, tone and composition, but also have the social savy and toughness to take advantage of "being at the right place at the right time."
Rude has resisted the easy route which often leads to medicore status. Instead riding her passions for UK Garage and Bassline House in anticipation of their impending prominence. Amanda is blessed with a natural charisma, which unfortunately can be the primary calling card for some female artists, but while these attributes have surely opened doors for some, Amanda's impressive skills and relentless pursuit of fresh tracks are the foot that keeps her doors from closing.
Back from a recent trip playing dates through the UK and Ibiza, her crates are surely full of the latest authentic selections, confident to tear strips off the floors of Vancouver before attacking a prime spot @ Shambhala in August 2008.
About 3 years ago she co-founded a group called FlyDJs (WWW.FLYDJS.BIZ). The ‘FlyDJs’ are an all-girl DJ collective, dedicated to helping one another with keeping the vibe alive & kicking wherever possible. This collective has thrown many events including monthly FlyDJs showcases and weekly female DJ lessons. Amanda is also currently studying and practicing 3D design full time. More recently she has taken up music production and is also working on her own special events in Vancouver.
