So just what is this Sadie Hawkins Day Thing? Believe it or not, the entire tradition behind Sadie Hawkins day is the concept of girl-asks-boy to a party or dance. It originates from a comic strip which then turned into an American folk event. Sadie Hawkins Day made its debut in Al Capp’s Li’l Abner strip on November 13, 1937.
