PINKS FUNHOUSE ALBUM RELEASE PARTY took place on Friday, November 07, 2008 8:00 PM - 2:00 AM
at The Bank
in LAS VEGAS NV. More details on the event are below.
Alecia Moore, better known to the world as Pink, has been cranking out hits since 2000. Pink has never been your ordinary pop singer (such as Britney Spears), but rather the total opposite—a rebellious chick with an attitude. The difference between her and Britney Spears is simple: Pink is herself and Spears’ rebellious attitude is manufactured.
Pink being herself has certainly translated into tremendous success with four platinum albums (including the critically acclaimed I'm Not Dead) and 11 Top 20 Billboard singles—including her recent song and first solo #1 hit “So What”.
With that being said, Pink once again attempts to hit her stride with Funhouse—an album that Pink claims to be her most vulnerable to date.
One thing evident right off the bat on Funhouse, along with most of Pink's other albums, is the lack of guest appearances on any songs. Not a big deal, as she has clearly shown she can carry an album by herself for pretty much her whole career thus far.
On one side of the spectrum, you have the upbeat track “So What” and energy-filled “Ave Mary A”. On the flip side, there are a number of personal tracks—which showcase Pink's vulnerability since her divorce earlier this year. Such songs include “I Don’t Believe You”, “Mean”, and “Please Don't Leave Me”. I forgot to say out loud how beautiful you really are to me. I can't be without, you're my perfect little punching bag. And I need you, I'm sorry., Pink emphatically states in the aforementioned "Please Don't Leave Me".
While this is a personable album to an extent, it is also one with quite a bit of rock/pop influences that can get listeners bopping theirs heads and singing along, as opposed to her hip-hop inspired production in years past. This can be a good mix on a song like “So What”, but disastrous on “Funhouse”—clearly the weakest track in what is a relatively strong album.
Whether you love or hate Pink, she has clearly cemented her status as one of music’s hottest acts—one that has just as much substance in contrast to her style. She wears her emotions on her sleeve. No matter the situation, Funhouse showcases that Pink is not afraid to put her emotions on display for the world to see.
