WYATT EARP & SCOTT PARADIS took place on Thursday, November 22, 2007 8:00 PM - 2:00 AM
at The Church
in DENVER CO. More details on the event are below.
Scott Paradis (pronounced: pair-uh-dee) was born and raised in Montrose, Colorado—a small mountain community in southwest corner of the state. Since he was a young child, Scott has been gifted with the ability to learn new skills at an incredible rate. From music, art & design to mathematics, engineering, computer programming and even extreme sports (he was even once ranked 15th in the nation at slopestyle snowboarding), Scott is an incredibly gifted and versatile individual.
Scott discovered his love of DJing at the age of 14, after linking two desktop PCs together and experimenting with wav files extracted from CDs and a simple pitch-adjust software he discovered on a remote BBS (for those who don’t know, BBS, or bulletin board systems, were the pre-cursor to the modern day internet). The possibilities seemed endless, and Scott found himself fanatically experimenting with audio editing and mixing on whatever he could get his hands on. In those days, extracted wav files could fill up a hard drive in no time—a fact he was reprimanded for on several occasions by disapproving parents.
When the age of Napster came to light, Scott’s access to the exciting sound of electronic music was no longer impeded by his rural-community location. He teamed up with several different MP3 DJ Software companies to provide conceptual work in addition to rigorous amounts of testing and re-testing of these cutting-edge software programs. Some of the companies he volunteered with included AtomixMP3 (now Virtual DJ), VDMX (VisualDiscoMix), and Visosonic (PCDJ).
Scott’s vision of the future of DJ technology was well before it’s time. He carted a laptop and software with him wherever went, and was known to show up and drop tunes anytime, anywhere and for anyone. He even went as far as to borrow generators and speakers, driving miles into the wilderness to play at rural bonfire parties—dropping anything and everything people wanted to hear.
Moving forward through several years of college and related DJ gigs, Scott continued to embrace forward-thinking technology in the DJ world. Using his vast knowledge of the DJ software he worked with and a little bit of trial and error, Scott successfully designed and manufactured a short-run production of touch-activated ‘scratchinterfaces’ for use with the AtomixMP3 software. One of his designs, dubbed ‘Intermixx’, an innovative tactile DJ interface, was featured in the summer 2002 edition of ‘Innovation Magazine’, a quarterly productdesign publication.
After finishing school with a B.S. in industrial design, Scott began to work with Beatport.com in Denver; the unrivaled world-leader in dancemusic downloads. His DJ skills continued to expand, and his access to new music is now greater than ever. Scott blazed up the ladder in the local DJ circuit, going from a virtually unknown after-hours DJ, to one of the fastest-rising locals, playing along side a variety of world-class headliners including the like of Richie Hawtin, Crystal Method, Carl Cox, Lee Burridge, Satoshi Tomiie, Sharam Jey, Charles Feelgood, Tall Paul, Tiefschwarz, Chris Lawrence, Freq Nasty and many more. At the ripe age of 23, the future looks very bright for Scott, indeed. One thing is certain, with all the talent this kid possesses; it’s not a question of if he’s going to be a superstar…but simply a matter of how soon.
