Santos

Born in Frosinone (ciociaria) in 1971 Santos benefited from the strong creativity of those early disco years. He's grateful to have grown up in a cosy family environment warmed up by the notes of the Discofever. In 1976 he discovered his first musical inspiration 'Giorgio Moroder' producer of 'Donna Summer' amongst many other. All his birthday presents had to be records upon records, and so his deep knowledge of contemporary electronic music started.Fascinated by the Chicago House Music, Santos decided to produce a track in his own bedroom and he bought his first electronic keyboard. In the same period he also received his first British production 'Theme From S-Express' a track that had the kind of strong vibe he could really relate too. In 1992 he set up a small studio together with a friend where he used to spend lots of hours composing his music. Two years later in 1994 Santos made his first record. In '95 Santos was approached by Mantra Vibes a record-label of Expanded music, for the track SANTOS "THE PIANO". This record created a lot buzz in the music business and it was included in a lot of djs playlists. His career was taking off; 3 years later he was part of another important project called SANTOS & SABINO with the song "LARARARI" (canzone felice), a commercial but unusual record. With his innovating and strong mentality Santos along with Mantra Vibes A&R Marco "PeeDoo" Gallerani created a new sound, promptly named "Shakadelism".Supported by english Djs as Pete Tong, Steve Lamacq, Annie Nightingale and Judge Jules from BBC Radio 1, Basement Jaxx and Ashley Beadle, the single 'Camels' scored the UK top 10, and on june 18th 2001 the first album 'R U SHAKADELIC?' was released; the World recognized that THE SHAKADELIC SOUND had DEFINETELY ARRIVED.

Santos fame increased widely all around the world. He went to play all over Europe, from Ibiza to London (Big Beat Boutique vs. Bugged Out night) and of course Italy and from these experiences once back in the studio he gave life to a very special series of eps.

The 'Helsinki EP' was the first one which includes spanish flavourred track 'Ke Dolor' which also became a single supported immediately by Judge Jules from BBC radio1 and contained the remix by german Jan Driver and the one from Chill'out danish producers Banzai Republic; second was the 'Bruxelles EP' and third the well acclaimed 'Pandemonio EP' from the monthly night residency at the Maffia Club in Italy which included the astonishing track 'Sabot', the 'Tortuga Tool' and 'No Ticket No Run' included in the Perfecto Breaks compiled by Lee Coombs.

At the beginning of 2003 'No Ticket No Run' was remixed by australian master Dj Krafty Kuts and released in february on MOB Records. 2003 has also seen the born of Mantra Breaks, a Mantra Vibes dept. dedicated to breaks where Santos has released his first breakbeat ep called 'Another Planet ep' with the tracks 'I Just Cannot Come Back From The Space' (nr. #1 in the most important italian underground radio shows), '70 Sensation' (released in july on MOB records) and 'U Make Me Rock' remixed by Daluq and the single 'Sabot' remixed by Drummatic Twins.

All this has brought Santos to be one of the most requested remixer of the moment. After the remix of Fatboy Slim (by the way one of the major Santos supporters) 'Drop The Hate', Santos reached number 1 in the Dance German Chart with the remix project of Armand Van Helden's 'Funk Phenomena' and he was asked to remix Robbie Rivera's 'Funkatron' which was very well received. Santos scored once again the number #1 position of july Cool Cuts Chart with the remix of Junior Senior 'Rhythm Bandits'.

After the crazy '4 Traxx' ep released in september Santos remixed Boogie Pimps 'Somebody To Love' which was also included in the first Mantra Breaks compilation titled 'Agatha - Rock'n'Roll mixed live by Lai & Petitti' (in collaboration with Rome Club night Agatha). After the release of 'Too Fast' record with a special remix by Meat Katie & Elite Force, the most important thing in 2004 (apart Santos partecipation at Fuji Rock Festival in Japan - first italian producer to be invited) was for sure the second album titled 'Abrasive', released exclusively in june for Japan and out worldwide from the 20th of september. 2005 opened with a tour in Japan and the release of 'Shakadelic Upgrade' a selection compiled by Santos only for the japanese market. February brought the exibition at the Breakspoll Award in London with label mate Madox; together out with project 'Trouble Soup!!'. In Santos future there's definetely lots to do...a compilation for Australia, one for Distintive Records and now the single 'Tzumbae' with special remix from Superchumbo. Definetely there's still a lot to be seen.

Madox

Madox is the italian breakbeat talent. Also known as Stefano Miele, student of oriental languages at the University of Naples, he’s been doing music during his whole life. He’s either a Dj and a producer and during the years he has worked searching for something new, recording the electronic influences coming from the Uk and mixing them with the italian music traditions. .

His sound has conquerred likes of the best breakbeat producers around. He likes to define his style as ‘locked _break_grooves with techno energy?and that’s probably one of his trademark.

After having played through Italy in the best electronic clubs Madox in 2003 has been approached by Mantra Breaks, the first italian breakbeat label. It was love at first sight. The G_Toolz ep. was his first release. This tool caught attention in the international breakbeat scene but it was just with the second episode, The G_Toolz ep 2 containing ‘Resonance Song?/B> that Madox got a real standing ovation. The Plump dj’s inserted the Tool in their fave tunes ever and even Rennie Prilgrem got appreciation words for the record.

If this was just a step nobody could probably imagine that such a record as The G_Toolz ep3 (The Funk Side Of The Toolz) could really come out. Anyway it happened and so ‘Hypnotic Funk?/STRONG> and ‘Plasticfunk?/STRONG> enjoyed the crowd of the best nights for the whole summer. Timo Maas, Groove Armada, Meat Katie, Carl Cox, Marco Carola, Stanton Warriors, Tayo, Lee Coombs and Krafty Kuts are only a few names of people who simply fell in love for Madox sound style. Not tired he had an incredible remix done by master producer Phil Kieran (played by Zane Lowe of BBc Radio1) and just to underline his crossover attitude on prestigious Techno label Zenit a very special release came out: Marco Carola 'Avalanche?/STRONG> (MadOx remix) and MadOx ‘Starter?/STRONG> (Cerrone rmx), two collaboration with mighty techno DJs Marco Carola and Cerrone from Naples. On Mantra Breaks a new record called ‘Adventures in Drum: Brazil Careca/Alemao?/STRONG> sounding very..very brazilian…was release before the end of the year being defined also Essential New Breaks Tune on DMC mag. In the meanwhile Madox remix of Xplosiva ‘n?Luca Baldini ‘Polivox?/STRONG> is out on Santos ‘Shakadelic Upgrade Sampler?/STRONG>, and he has just been nominated at this year Breakspoll Award in the Breakthrough Act section and he’s been also featured in the people to watch out in 2005 on DJ MAG magazine. Soon to be released there’s the first ever project with label mate Santos titled ‘Trouble Soup?/STRONG> and coming soon a collaboration with legend John Acquaviva. Do you think you can have more? Definetely yes!

PeeDoo

Marco Gallerani aka Peeddu, was born in 1974 in the country near the small town of Ferrara. Artistically he grew up in one of the cult club of the alternative italian music scene: the Link Club. Based in Bologna Link is the place where he had been djing for 4 years as resident dj presenting his selection side by side to famous djs as Derek Dahlarge (Wall of Sound), Cut La Roc (Skint), Hardnox, Andy Smith (Portishead), Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Alec Empire, Bandulu, Kenny Larkin and many more.

In the march of '99 he's been Dj supporter in the italian tour of Luke Vibert & BJ Cole and headliner in the chill-out zone at the Taotec, the big party in Slovenia (Mousse T, Boris Dlougosh, Umek?among the headliners) and in the year 2001 he's been a Dj guest at the party of Umek's coming back in Slovenia. Considered as one of the pioneer in the italian breakbeat scene, inside his selection he plays a wide range of music, from rock to funky, techno, house and hip-hop which are among his influences. His ability to propose party music without being banal has taken him to play in some of the best italian and european situations as 'Liquid' in Florence, 'Dead by Dawn' in London, 'Ambasciata Gavioli' in Slovenia and 'Aquatica Festival' in Croatia. Since 1996 he's A&R of the Expanded Music where among house and techno productions he created the label Crea©tive that published the compilations Europe Network and Sensorama (selected by Aky Tune) in collaboration with Italia Network. In a short time Peedoo has also become A&R of the Mantra Vibes label, always part of the Expanded Music family and focused on a more particular house oriented sound, not typical and ready to be experimented. Peedoo is also busy in studio as a producer; his most remarkable contribution is the remix "You Ask For The Moon" by Afrika Bambaataa, enclosed in Adam Freeland and the Freestylers playlists of that time. His successes as a label supervisor have brought to the light the hit 'Camels' by Santos which gained the top ten in the UK chart in 2000. Then he can boast credits on Santos 'R U Shakadelic?' album and singles as 'Your Sincerely Lionel' by Drive Red Five and 'Funky Heroes' by Afrika Bambaataa remixed by Jan river and Le Dust Sucker and Tomy or Zox "Music Makes me happy" In october 2002 Peedoo became Dj resident of the night called 'Pandemonio' at the Maffia Illecit Club in Reggio Emilia (Italy) where the Mantra Vibes night was taking place on every first friday of the month; shakadelic vibes were floating in the air. In the same year Peedoo was also Dj supporter of Royksopp in occasion of their Italian tour. Back behind his A&R desktable, in 2003, Peedoo gave birth to one of his main project, the first italian label dedicated to breakbeat: Mantra Breaks. After lots of hard work Mantra Breaks is now one of the most respected breakbeat reality in Europe. For sure there will be soon new opportunities to see Dj Peedoo in action playing records, meanwhile he's very focused in leaving a mark on music business. The only mistery around this charming dj is the origin of his nickname 'Peedoo', nobody has known yet its meaning... .
