Fast forward to 2012, and it proved to be a phenomenal year for the young Spaniard. After earning his stripes in illustrious company thanks to early headline slots with Fedde le Grand, Martin Solveig, Afrojack, David Guetta and the Black Eyed Peas, Danny confirmed not one, not two but three residencies in Ibiza – at the jet-set hotspot Blue Marlin, at one of the world’s most celebrated venues, Space Ibiza, and at the personal behest of Tiësto, the legendary Pacha Ibiza where he appeared alongside the iconic Dutchman for an unbelievable 15 dates. A staggering 35 dates in total across the season, Danny Avila had well and truly landed on the White Isle.
While Avila was busy wowing the crowds in Ibiza, on the other side of the Atlantic, the powers that be were also paying attention. Stateside broadcasting behemoth SiriusXM, the largest purveyor of dance music on the North American continent, snapped up the teenager’s ‘Ready To Jump’ show without a moment’s hesitation, making him the youngest EVER prime-time resident to grace the airwaves – and this before Avila had even dropped a single beat on American soil. The show, a sizzling hour-long concoction of pure energy and fun is the perfect representation of the young Spaniard and has had rave reviews across the board from enamoured legions of new US fans. Finally, in September, Danny gave America and Canada what they had been waiting for with a massive inaugural tour that included a sensational three dates in NYC alone. Exploding inside DJ booths across the continent, tens of thousands witnessed both the power and creativity that had already set the European circuit ablaze. With the release of his debut single ‘Breaking Your Fall’ on Big Beat Records in October, the Avila wave began to build unprecedented speed, with music bible Billboard naming him as ‘One To Watch’ for their 2013 ’21 Under 21’ power list, swiftly followed by similar plaudits in the MTV Clubland list and the influential Dancing Astronaut list, underlining the huge impact Danny made in such a short space of time.
With 2013 dawning across the planet, the wave is beginning to approach tsunami levels. After further dates across North America and Europe and huge first-time appearances in key Asian cities, Danny’s management announced the launch of the Generation Wild tour, teaming him up with fellow musical firebrands Deniz Koyu, dBerrie and Mikael Weermets. The first of 20 nights opens in Chicago on January 31st and is already garnering huge press interest. Add to the concoction a brand new package of edits for ‘Breaking Your Fall’ and the imminent news of a massive remix collaboration with one of the biggest stars in recent musical history, and it’s becoming clear that if you want to keep up with Danny Avila, you need to be damn fast!
