The Charlie Keating Band is a New England blues-inspired trio.2012 IBC winners of the Massachusetts Blues Society Regional Grand Finals.Participated in and represented the Massachusetts Blues Soiciety at the 2013 IBC Memphis Tennesee.Charlie"Slideman" Keating on guitar,vocals and slide,Lenny Turnquist on bass and Alan Trebat on Drums.A unique slide guitar style That channels such slide greats as Elmore James and Duane Allman can be heard in their performances.
Uniformly, listeners are amazed at the big sound of the band.Many have compared the guitar style to that of the early Stevie Ray Vaughan because of Charlie's ability to combine lead and rhythm guitar simultaneously . Charlie is also a gifted and prolific songwriter.With one CD under their belt "Slide On Over" CKB has gained worldwide airplay.
Charlie Keating aka Slidemaster C grew up listening to Hank Williams,so that's probably where he got his influence on slide. guitar.There was a lot of James Brown around the house as well,so you know he heard the funky stuff.All is evident on his latest release "Slide on Over," available on Itunes.Charlie started playing guitar in 1969.
A short stint at Berklee served him well. In the the early 70's, he played with the R&B band "Sandra and the Melodies",as well as several other local bands throughout Boston, New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island.After a few years of mostly writing and recording his own material,Charlie went back to the live scene playing with the "Black Cat Road Band""Big Whiskey", "Blue Charlie and the Union Cats", and the "Tedd Walker Band". Charlie writes the bands original songs as well.
