Ever since he can remember, Joe has wanted to be an actor. He began his theatre career at the puerile age of 7-singing, dancing, and acting in local youth productions. High school highlights include: Performing at the Edinbugh Fringe Festival, becoming a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, and speaking at his high school commencement.
In 2005 Joe made the leap from high school to college when he enrolled in the BFA-Acting program at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. He began to study Aikido and Stage Combat under the direction of SAFD co-founder Erik Fredricksen. He broadened his study of Shakespeare: including classes with Sarah-Jane Gwillim, Ralph Williams, and the Royal Shakespeare Company while they were in residency in Ann Arbor. After spending three months studying language and culture all across China, Joe was lucky engough to score tickets to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games!.úkçD!
Joe enjoyed much success at the University of Michigan: receiving the Monroe Lippman Scholarship, Merit Scholarships, studying and appearing in various productions, and writing and directing his own plays. For his role as the Cripple in Madmen and Specialists, Joe was nominated for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Acting competition, and with his partner actor/playwright Seth Moore, became a Semi-Finaliast for the Region III competition. That year also marked the release of the viral internet sensation A Very Potter Musical! in which Joe played the nefarious Severus Snape.
Joe is now a graduate of the University of Michigan Department of Theatre and Drama. He is also an active member of Team Starkid, a multi-faceted theatre company which continues to produce original comedy works and musicals. Joe currently resides in New York City where he continues to write, choreograph, and study theatre and comedy.
