The Blue Cadillac Band’s repertoire focuses on the blues, R&B and soul music. They perform songs made famous by such artists as Delbert McClinton, Norton Buffalo, Los Lobos, Robben Ford, Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal, Colin James, Ray Charles, Coco Montoya, Tommy Castro, Kenny Neil, Mark Dufresne, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Lucky Peterson, Albert Collins and Jeff Beck.
The members of Blue Cadillac Frank Alexander is a dynamic lead vocalist and front man for the band. Frank began performing in the mid-sixties in Victoria, B.C. and quickly established himself with his powerful voice and passion for the blues. Frank was a founding member of the Joe Blues band which was regularly featured in Vancouver Island blues clubs, festivals and events from 1995- 2003. A talented lyricist, Frank’s love for creating the blues just seems to come naturally when he sings. When he steps on stage, Frank gives a high energy performance that always gets people out of their seats and onto the dance floor! Frank has surprised more than one appreciative fan inquiry about the name of ‘that’ song with his response, “Oh, it’s an original…I just made it up!”
Gavin Dixon is well known and respected by local musicians as an exceptional bass player and vocalist. He grew up and played music in Yorkshire England during the sixties on the same local circuit as the Rats who went on to be David Bowie’s band and the late Robert Palmer. He came to Canada and continued playing in several successful Vancouver bands, opening for the likes of Rare Earth-Electric Light Orchestra and Kiss. He has played extensively on Vancouver Island with Victoria’s top musicians over the years and is now delighted to be playing in Blue Cadillac.
