Reinterpreting the classical repertoire with passion and fearlessness, Collectif 9 invites you to share an original musical experience. Their four violins, two violas, two cellos, and one double bass have already seduced classical, rock, and world music lovers alike with diverse programming and unparalleled drive.
The close miking and amplification of the instruments provides listeners with a unique experience – an organic classical sound presented with the amped up power of a rock concert.
For the first time, the ensemble will present its complete program in an outstanding concert of great breadth and scope. From Vivaldi to Golijov, passing through Piazzolla and Shostakovich, the repertoire of Collectif 9 is a careful selection of short pieces and energetic folk-inspired songs from all over the world.
Founded in 2011 by nine musicians of prominent conservatories and universities from around the world, Collectif 9 is proud to call the lively metropolis of Montreal its home. Exclusively for this concert, the ensemble is very excited to collaborate with special guest soprano Samantha Louis-Jean, hailed for her extraordinary voice and stage presence.
