An energetic kid from the suburbs that loved music and wanted to be a DJ since as long as he could remember. That’s how it all began for The Les.
“I used to put two boom boxes together and try to mix cassette tapes so I could play what I recorded for all the kids in my neighborhood. I always had this fascination of wanting to make people dance.”
The San Francisco born native got his start playing in front of audiences with mobile dj group Club 5 Entertainment. At the tender age of 15, he was given the opportunity to do a guest spot on Wild 94.9’s Miki Fiki holiday mix. That big break opened the door for Les to eventually become a full-time Wildstyle DJ rocking the airwaves every Friday and Saturday Night. During his tenure on the 94.9 (KYLD), Les began to receive opportunities to DJ in the nightclub circuit all over the bay and took full advantage of building the right relationships before he even turned 21.
In 2007, Les, along with his 600 inc counterparts released one of the most talked about local mixtapes in recent memory, The Beautiful Hustle. The buzz continued to escalate as more and more people started to pay attention to his melodic style and DJ abilities. In 2009, Les co-founded the Hometown Heroes, an event promotions group that works with San Francisco’s premiere venues, dj’s and artists. A year later, the legendary Jazzy Jim approached Les to make his return to the airwaves after being away over half a decade. You can catch The Les in the mix every Friday at 10PM on 99.7 FM (KMVQ) as well as DJ E-Rock’s world renowned Club 997 mixshow.
2011 has been an incredible year for Les. After releasing his critically acclaimed remix album Beat The System, his popularity had become more widespread than ever. Immediately following that release early spring, Les continued to put together some of the most memorable mixes of the year including: From SF 2 NY, A Kanye West Tribute Mix, and his latest edition, Move Your Feet.
Les has also been able to travel throughout the country and mix in various cities such as Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles, San Diego and Charlotte. The bay area hometown hero has also shared the main stage with prominent acts such as The Black Eyed Peas, Kid Cudi, Mos Def, Jermaine Dupri, The Roots, 112, Goapele and The Clipse just to name a few. Les’ well rounded ability to mix, scratch, throw successful events, and produce original remixes is what makes him one of the premiere talents in the entertainment industry today. The Les is definitely more…
