Waterloo Revival: While arguably still in the midst of their more formative years together, Waterloo Revival has burst into the popular country music scene, extending far beyond the Mason Dixon or one defined genre. Based in the heart of Austin, Texas, Waterloo’s rapid success is a true testament to its skilled musicians, hailing from across the United States, combined with catchy chords and southern twang– an algorithm all too familiar, if not second nature to its seasoned and decorated members. The band saw its beginnings merely as recreational jam sessions, where George Birge, Alex Valvassori, Mateo Clarke and Matthew Colletta would often combine their talents in spare time; little did they know that a few months later, with the additions of Cody Cooper and Jason Klann, they would hear their first single “Steel Guitars” premiered on radio waves in New England in fall of 2012. The band is no stranger to acclaimed music and their combined repertoire is as varied as their backgrounds; childhood friends and native Austinites George Birge (Lead Vocals and Guitar) and Cody Cooper (Guitar) join following years together in the pop-band, Crossing Ten, an MTV’s Skins Song Placement Competition finalist and highly popular name within the University of Texas community. Chicago and Minnesota natives Alex Valvassori (Drums) and Jason Klann (Bass), along with formerly rock oriented Matthew Colletta of South Florida (Guitar), join from a breadth of award-winning Americana and alternative rock groups. Finally, Mateo Clarke (Fiddle and Mandolin), is recognizable to audiences as fiddler for the bluegrass and folk Navosota String Band. Citing influences from modern day country music chart toppers such as Randy Rogers, Brantley Gilbert, and Casey Donahew, Waterloo Revival’s recent singles evoke authentic Americana vibes intertwined with alternative rock, strung together with pure vocal strength. As the group continues to work towards their highly anticipated debut album, their fan base and touring book continues to expand nationwide.
