Jacob Jeffries and Artofficial

Jacob Jeffries

Jacob Jeffries, hailed “a superb singer-songwriter-keyboardist” by the OC Register, may just be the best-kept musical secret in south Florida. A Fort Lauderdale, Florida native, Jacob began playing the piano when he was 5 years old and writing original music at age 10. In 2006 Jacob formed the Jacob Jeffries Band with guitar, bass and drums forging "a four-piece from Florida fronted by the engaging, piano-bashing Jeffries...” - Q4. With Jacob on lead vocals and keys, the talented quartet create a unique musical blend of piano-driven rock and roll described by Miami Herald/Metromix as “bursting with hook-filled melodies and dramatic, instantly likable vocals,” that grab at your soul and refuse to let go which, paired with the young songwriter’s surprisingly insightful lyrics keep audiences out of their seats and singing along show after show.

Since 2006 the young, independent foursome has been getting the good word out ceaselessly writing, recording and hitting the road with four U.S. tours of the northeast, southeast and midwest, and regularly playing the Los Angeles and south Florida music scene. Some of the band’s stops on the road include appearances at the NAMM Conference for Baldwin Pianos in Anaheim, CA, BMI’s Leaf Lounge during the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT, and at SXSW for BMI’s Acoustic Brunch and the Red Gorilla Festival in Austin, TX. During these extensive tours the Jacob Jeffries Band has played alongside a range of established artists such as Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Sister Hazel, Eric Hutchinson, Dashboard Confessional, The Click Five, Vertical Horizon, Benjy Davis Project, Trevor Hall, Tim Reynolds, Sons of Bill, Priscilla Ahn, and Jennifer Knapp.

Declared “(one) of Miami’s best and most buzzed-about independent artists, singer songwriters,” by the Miami Herald, the Jacob Jeffries Band have released a series of albums engineered and produced by Grammy Award-winning producers Sebastian Krys and Dan Warner and published by Warner Chappell. The latest album released - Waiting for the Piano Movers – Fall 2009, is a Live CD/DVD recorded at the renowned Full Sail University, one of the premier media arts schools in the world. The band’s debut recording - Life As An Extra – Spring 2008, was a more intimate recording featuring Jacob’s lyrics and voice. The second release – Wonderful – Fall 2008, bridged both albums as an electric studio recording featuring the full band. Each album is evidence of the band’s progressively richer and more complex sound, delivering heartfelt songs with the energy and precision of well-seasoned musicians.

ArtOfficial
ArtOfficial thrives on originality. It’s the quiet thrum that runs beneath every track and performance like a current, igniting and electrifying their sound. They tread their own path, eschewing the simple magic of beat machines and samples for the irreplaceable warmth of organic instrumentation, and a meticulous care for crafting music with soul.

Formed from the remnants of two very different bands in Miami in 2007, ArtOfficial’s one-of-a-kind sound is as inherently ingrained in the group’s core as a trait buried in genetic code. Since their inception, they’ve been compared to groups like Soulive and The Roots, but theirs is a different brew–a seamless marriage of unyielding, unapologetic urban poetry with an unflinching array of jazz melodies that results in some of the most uniquely crafted and sincere hip-hop you’re likely to find–not just in Miami–anywhere.

The six-piece band dropped their indie debut, the Stranger EP, in 2007, and followed it in 2008 with a well-received sophomore effort in Fist Fights & Foot Races, which was released on Goon Trax records in Japan. They made the album available in the U.S. in December of 2010, but by then their fans had already been clamoring for more ArtOfficial. So earlier that year, AO answered the call, giving away their mixtape The Payback online. Both The Payback and Fist Fights were widely shared on the Internet.
