Winner of the 2012 WAMI Award for “Best Club DJ”, DJ Bizzon’s creative turntablism skills, original production and remixes have lead to his quick rise as one of the region’s most sought-after DJs. Few can balance rocking the party and keeping the music interesting the way he can. From songs you’ve heard to bangers you haven’t, Bizzon’s deep-crate knowledge and signature hands-on style pack dance floors and create new fans everywhere he plays. The same work ethic and originality that make him a standout on the turntables carry through to his other roles in music – radio host, music columnist, event organizer and youth-org music director. Collectively, these pursuits have made Bizzon one of the music scene’s most committed contributors and among the most respected DJs in his hometown of Milwaukee, WI and throughout the Midwest.
In addition to DJing, Bizzon co-hosts Mad Kids Radio on Wmse 91.7FM, Milwaukee’s only all underground and old school hip-hop radio show. He created and writes for The Takeover blog on JSOnline.com, the only column in a major Wisconsin publication focused on hip-hop culture. He is also the Lead Music Director at youth organization TRUE Skool, where he teaches DJ classes, oversees the music program, writes grants and organizes fundraising events and concerts. All of these projects are inspired by the “Takeover” movement – his mission to put musical diversity and real choice back into people’s hands, rather than letting mainstream media dictate what defines good music.
To advance the Takeover and make greater use of the countless hours he spends researching new and independent music, Bizzon also created the instantly popular and growing Takeover mixtape series. What started as a showcase of the best in rare and new hip-hop, has been expanded to highlight music of all genres as well as his original production, remixing and technical skills. The mixes have been featured on 88.9FM Radio Milwaukee and Vocalo 89.5FM in Chicago, and have had distribution throughout Europe.
