Connexus
Connexus is an incarnation of the conscious effort to effect change within and beyond our communities through creative integration and social partner dance.
The Human Experience
“The Human Experience” is David Block’s debut project as a live electronic composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer. Listeners experience a delicious symphonic blend of prismatic soundscapes and sultry beats. Also composing and performing live with the Audio/Visual/Dance project “Phadroid” (with Android Jones), “Seraphim Dance Theater” and “Isis Vision”” David is expanding his sounds into the mixed media world.
David is constantly pushing the boundaries of live electronic music. Playing, composing, and conducting his own electronic symphony live on stage, his performances are brimming and layered with human emotion, world exploration, and sacred sounds. Whether performing by himself, or with a live band, “The Human Experience” always delivers an emotionally charged show.
Combining a dub and breaks feel with psychedelic textures, this music is intended to take the listener to spaces of deep atmospheres, rhythmic intensity, and throbbing bass. Inspired by the ever changing world around us, this is merely a reflection of what has been and will be experienced..
With Chance’s End (chancesend.com), classically-trained violinist Ryan Avery and blues-infused folk singer Emily Zisman (emilyzisman.com) have found unlikely common ground in electronic music. With musical influences ranging from Zero 7, Beats Antique, and Ani DiFranco, this San Francisco Bay Area duo is fusing acoustic violin and sultry vocals at the forefront of downtempo and breakbeat electronica.
Chance’s End just released their latest album “Down The Doors”, which in August 2012 reached #1 on the Amazon.com Hot New Trip-Hop releases chart and #2 on the CDBaby Downtempo top-sellers chart.
Matt Spencer, aka Octopod, is a seasoned selector and budding producer. He is well known in the Bay for his hypnotic grooves and dynamic live sessions. Showcasing a progressive blend of heady bass music, his goal is simple: to help you, the dancer, completely lose your shit.
Octopod has played all over the Bay, with venues including Public Works, Temple Nightclub, SupperClub SF, Mighty, Club6, UndergroundSF, Milk Bar, The Cellar, Showdown SF, Fuel, the Bordello, and more.
He has thrown down at parties including Ritual Dubstep, Bass Cellar, Breathe, Dub Sessions, Bass Chakra, and High Voltage, as well as a multitude of other smaller venues and parties.
Octo has shared the booth with Distance, Truth, Mark Instinct, Mochipet, Liquid Stranger, SPL, SPECTRE, Nit Grit, NastyNasty, and many others.
Lux Moderna is a sonically-oriented alchemical priestess in service to ritual, performance and community. She is an artist that embodies and expresses her divine gifts in order to elevate others into their own embodiment of Truth. As a star rising on the West Coast, Lux has inspired and uplifted festival-goers through her voice and her music at festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle, Symbiosis Gathering: Pyramid Eclipse, Sonic Bloom, Burning Man and beyond. Lux consciously and artistically transmutes sound, light and consciousness into experiences of activation and resonance. Lux is based in San Francisco, California and focuses her energy into electronic music production, singing, chanting, education and healing on all scales of existence. She specializes in bass music, mantra, ritual ceremony, neuroscience, mythology, and alchemical art. Lux Moderna is dedicated to a conscious, heart-centered experiential approach to facilitating mass entrainment with the creative essence of the universe.
Nari (aka David Keogh) has been composing electronic music for social dancers for the past four years and has performed at Fusion Exchanges, Blues Recess weekends, and other social dance festivals. His music blends electronic and acoustic instruments, with an emphasis on rhythm, tempo and musicality for partnered dance.
MrMoo hails from the forested hills of Portland, OR. A classically trained violinist, he uses his musical background to sculpt soundscapes of gypsy fiddle, bass, dub, and heavy sound design. He’s been rocking the scene of the alt-dance community in the North West with his signature sound, and is stoked to hit Connexus with some rosin bumpin’. Get ready to mooooooooooooove.
