Dogwood and Dahlia

Saturday, September 15, 2012 (8:00 PM - 2:00 AM)   |   Streaming Cafe 596 leon ave. Kelowna BC

Dogwood and Dahlia, hailed as Vancouvers youngest poet singers, have captivated the Vancouver indie folk scene since their formation in the spring of 2011. Neil Smith (guitar, vocals) and Sydney Thorne (banjo, vocals) started playing together at casual fireside jams and summer camp sing-alongs. They met again at The Cultch when they were both accepted into the Ignite! Youth Mentoring program. The two were paired up with mentor Tyler Bancroft (of Said the Whale) and from there the duo formed naturally. That was a year ago, and since then the group has welcomed Andrew Maledy on percussion, as well as Rory Hislop on trumpet. Dogwood and Dahlia strive to reflect the beauty of their home through their infectious pop melodies and traditional folk instrumentation. Watch the show live on the internet!
