One need not venture far to identify the band's influences. Witchstone unapologetically taps the 'Sabbathian' vein, akin to 90' doom revival bands Sleep and Electric Wizard.
Witchstone's music is best described as a bubbling cauldron of churning guitar tones and volcanic yet melodic vocals atop thunderous crashing drums, with an electronic synth/fx overlay that distills the sound in a spacey psychedelic resonance.
The project began as many musical endeavours do, with Sean Edwards and Andrew Sanderson jamming and writing riffs together. Edwards knows that being 420 friendly assists them in their songwriting, especially given the band's stoner aesthetic. With this technique, Edwards and Sanderson conjured the majority of the underlying ideas that would become the group's future setlist. However, when drummer Grant Cooper and Edwards moved into their downtown abode this past summer, things started really getting off the ground.
After acquiring a full-time drummer the band quickly developed to the point where they began playing basement shows, cutting their teeth on small audiences before escalating to legitimate venues. It wasn't long until the band included the addition of Dylan Homer on guitar and Brian Wennerstrom on synthesizer/fx to even further thicken the wall of sound they have come to be known for.
