DJ Seko
Music is in Seko's blood. Growing up the son of a radio deejay in Guatemala, Seko immersed himself in the R&B, Funk, Soul, Disco, Rock, and Latin records at his fathers station making mix tapes for himself and his friends.
Soon after he was influenced by heavyweight DJs such as Roc Raida, A-Trak and DJ Premier. It was Seko's love for music and his ability to share his musical knowledge with others that made him realize DJing was what he wanted to do with his life. Introducing people to new and rare music that made their souls feel good to the point they have to sing and dance along was Seko's only mission.
"When I came to Canada I fell in love with hip hop culture. The DJ element of it always caught my interest and in 2001 I got my first set of turntables. That made me start collecting records and DJing in my basement; then in 2004 I started opening for well respected deejays at major clubs in Vancouver."
Fast forward to 2011 and without question Seko's mission has been accomplished. His mixes have been heard worldwide via Sirius radio, mixtapes, and his U-Stream sets. He has played many of the most legendary parties in the world including The Rub in New York City, Lemonade in Los Angeles, and the Main Ingredient in Toronto, not to mention his own weekly Good Life party that he throws every Sunday in Vancouver with his crew The Freshest. His deep crates means that he easily makes the transition from mega clubs where the dancefloor wants to hear the latest in whatever is popular, to music clubs where the dancefloor is filled with heads that want to hear nothing but good music where no BS is allowed only the Freshest!
