Paul Ramirez is unquestionably one of the finest blues/rock guitarists in the Houston music scene. As the co-lead guitarist for the highly respected Mark May Band for six years, Paul was able to cultivate his own following of devoted fans.
When Mark left Houston, Paul decided it was time to step out in front. Paul’s musical journey has continued to take some interesting turns, consisting of covering diverse styles and genres with different bands and band members over the past decade, and is what has become the ever-experimenting and musically expanding Paul Ramirez Band.
Formed in January 2011 the Paul Ramirez Band is a dynamic power–trio comprising Paul, (Vocals/Guitar), Brian Shoppell, (Vocals/Drums) and Bella Adela (Vocals/Bass).
Pauls' talent and innovative approach to playing has ensured that the Paul Ramirez Band has carved-out its own place in Houstons' live-music scene and is in constant demand by local venues as well enjoying the respect of other musicians, who Paul often invites to join him on-stage.
Pauls' resume is impressive, having warmed up the stage for The Pat Travers Band, Blue Oyster Cult, The Marshall Tucker Band, Widespread Panic, Allman Brothers Band, the Ian Moore Band, the ‘King of Surf Guitar’ Dick Dale and the ever-adorable ‘Superhero’ Candye Kane. He has played blues festivals around the country and in Canada.
Paul is recording some original tunes and feels very positive about his future. Paul has been involved with many local charity events and benefits and the other players in town know they can count on his musical support for many a worthy cause.
In addition to playing 4-5 gigs a week, the Paul Ramirez Band has a weekly residency on Wednesday nights at The Continental Club - Houston.
