DEEKLINE BIO:
Deekline is that rare figure in dance music, the seminal producer who has successfully maintained underground cache while making regular raids into the mainstream. This is the artist who brought you I Don't Smoke, the hyper-dope UK garage-breaks hybrid that broke the British top 20 back in 1999 and last year blew up all over again thanks to a 10-year anniversary re-release with a variety of new reworkings from top producers such as Krafty Kuts, Utah Saints, Tim Healey and Crissy Criss (as well as Deekline himself). Yet he also works tirelessly to push street level bass music artists like London's Ivory and Shystie via the six record labels which he currently oversees: Sludge, Hot Cakes, Jungle Cakes, Booty Breaks, Rat Records and Giant Pussy Records.
Having worked with or remixed the cream of the cream when it comes to electronic dance music, including the likes of DJ Assault, Fast Eddie, Kid Sister and Freq Nasty, this is a producer with his finger right on the button, and in a wide variety of musical pies. For many he's best known for throwing down bassbin-rattling peaktime joints, such as his dancehall vibed ghetto house anthem Bring It Back, alongside Healey, his partner in the Giant Pussy Records imprint. Yet he's also capable of moments of sublime, understated elegance in the shape of Angels, the soulful and cerebral cut from his critically acclaimed 2009 album with engineering maestro Wizard, Back Up, Coming Through.
Just as content jetting off to distant corners of the globe to bring his booty-shaking, genre-straddling style to fresh audiences as he is shutting himself away in his London studio to lock down the latest heavy jam, Deekline will be spinning his unique and iconic brand of bass music in the hottest of clubs across Australia, Canada, Europe and America in 2010 as part of the biggest world tour of his career.
He sold out Shine in October 2010 and Red Room with over 650 people in March 2010 on his own so you know this will be something crazy. |
