Plies

He never dreamed of stepping out beyond what he got and he never even realized his capability. Plies, a rapper from Fort Myers, Florida helped people reaching their success in music but initially didn't know that his talent was what the industry have been dying for. Debut album 'The Real Testament' was sold more than 96,000 units in the first week of its release, dethroning Common from his comfortable seat at #2 in Billboard Hot 200. Few weeks prior to that, his first single 'Shawty' featuring T-Pain peaked at #10 in Billboard Singles Chart, earning him a reputation hard to compete. Next he will release a new single called 'Hypnotized' that receives the production of the unquestionable Akon and the singer slash producer's guest feature.

Plies was born Algernod Lanier Washington on July 1, 1976. The rapper derived the stage name Plies from hometown Fort Myers that calls most money-making drug dealers by the slank. He grew up in the small stateside of East Dunbar and as soon as graduating from Fort Myers High School in 1994, Plies pursued his passion in music. He became interested in rap and joined his older brother Ronell Levatte to run Big Gates Record, ...

RICK ROSS

More than a decade in the making, Rick Ross was often credited as the featured guest in other artists' works. Coming in 2008, he steps up for the second time as the main character of his music career by releasing "Trilla". Although frequently pushed since 2007, "Trilla" is more than just a title. Ross recalled his childhood when listening to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' and related it to what he expects from the album. "It was one of the first vinyl albums I bought, along with Run DMC's 'Walk This Way'," he said. "I just played it over and over for a year long. I just wanted to make my sophomore album that intense, just wanted to electrify everyone." Self-proclaimed to be a "classic" like Jackson's, Ross made the album to have star-studded appearances by Jay-Z, R. Kelly, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Mannie Fresh, Akon, Young Jeezy, Flo Rida, Trick Daddy, Floetry's Marsha Ambrosius, Nelly and more, with production from, Cool & Dre, The Runners, DJ Toomp, J-Rock, J.U.S.T.I.C.E League, Drumma Boy and J.R. Rotem, among others.

Once only an artist frequently featured in songs, Rick Ross steps up into the spotlight as the lead man.

TRINA

A native of Miami who was born with the name Katrina Le'verne Taylor on December 3, 1978, Trina originally underwent a profession as a real estate agent before she was spotted by Trick Daddy, a local Dirty South rapper. Interested in her raw talent, the gifted artist then included her in the making of his single, "Nann Nigga," which surprisingly became a regional hit, even managed to enter the top 3 of Billboard Hot Rap Singles in 1999. Subsequently signed under Slip-N-Slide Records following this initial success, she quickly set out to develop her own Singing career, smoothly releasing her debut album "Da Baddest Bitch" on March 7, 2000.

Taking participation in Z90 Jingle Jam Concert on December 28, 2005 in San Diego together with Snoop Dogg, Twista, and Pitbull, Trina certainly could close the year with a wide smile as her third album, "Glamorest Life," has gloriously taken the 2nd position on Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. Also slated to appear alongside David Banner in "Showtime at the Apollo" on December 24, this lovely rapper unquestionably kept being active in exhibiting her skills for she has joined Sean Paul, Chris Brown, Juelz Santana, and Keyshia Cole to perform on BET's New Years Special, "106 & Party," aired on the last day of 2005.

RAY J

Ray J's future as a successful entertainer was inevitable. His singing abilities landed him a recording deal when he was just 14. "EVERYTHING YOU WANT," Ray J's well-received first album proved that - like his big sis, recording and television superstar Brandy - he has what it takes to grab the entertainment world by storm. With a string of movie roles, a co-starring spot on the top-rated UPN sitcom, Moesha, and a brand new gig hosting The Source Sound Lab, Ray J has carved out a major niche for himself.

Ray J's musical vision has expanded tremendously since his 1996 debut. "Then, I didn't know what type of direction I wanted to go in," says Ray J. "Being that Brandy came out and blew up, I just went with the flow. But after my album dropped and I saw what was out there, I started to develop my own ideas about what I wanted to do with my music."

BABY AKA BIRDMAN

When he's doing business, Cash Money Records CEO Bryan Williams uses his real name, but when he grabs the mic to spit Dirty South raps, Williams goes by the names Birdman or Baby. Williams formed Cash Money in 1991 with his brother Ronald "Slim" Williams. Releases by B.G., the Hot Boys, Juvenile, and many others built the Cash Money empire into a Dirty South powerhouse. Williams himself displayed his vocal skills on the Hot Boys albums, but it was with Cash Money's in-house producer, Mannie Fresh, that he really made his mark. The two formed the group Big Tymers in 1997 and made of series of albums that became Dirty South favorites. He broke out on his own with Baby aka the 1 Stunna in 2002. After the album's release, he oversaw an urban footwear collection for the Lugz company, narrated the video game *Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition, and appeared in the 2005 movie Beauty Shop. Three years after his solo debut, Birdman released his second solo album, Fast Money. In 2006 he teamed with his "surrogate son," Lil Wayne, for Like Father, Like Son. David Jeffries, Rovi
