Rakim is universally recognized as one of the greatest - if not THE greatest - MCs of all time. He's your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. An MC who not only innovated but also originated.
As one half of the duo Eric B & Rakim, he instantly set the bar with the release of their debut single "Eric B Is President" and built on that reputation with the release of classic record after classic record. "Paid In Full", "I Ain't No Joke", "I Know You Got Soul", "Microphone Fiend", "Let The Rhythm Hit Em", "Don't Sweat The Technique", "Know The Ledge" and the list goes on. After four classic albums the legendary duo parted ways and Rakim embarked on his solo career. Eventually signing with Dr. Dre's Aftermath label, The R enjoyed the success of yet another hit with the smash "Addictive" along side R&B artist Truth Hurts. Even after his innovations have been studied and borrowed by countless MCs who followed, Rakim's early work still sounds startlingly fresh and everything since has only added to his legacy.
