BollyGrooves is back on June 19th celebrating 6 years of providing Seattle with great Bollywood and Global music. We started with Panjabi MC in 2004, then the entire Rishi Rich Project (yes, with Jay Sean) at Bumbershoot in 2006, then we brought on Bollywood mega DJ, DJ Suketu (twice) and several others we decided it was time to get involved with someone where some of the true influences of the US South Asian club nights have from: DJ Rekha. DJ Rekha has been a huge influence to the South Asian Music and club scene in the US and BollyGrooves could not resist bringing in the Ambassador of Bhangra Music and creator of Bollywood Disco. DJ Rekha performs at a famous monthly event known as Basement Bhangra at SOB's on Varick Street in New York City. Since its launch in 1997, Basement Bhangra has popularized the traditional-modern Bhangra blend, making the genre a part of the NYC club scene. This night is the night that people will schedule their trips around, because SOBs on the first Thursday of the month is the place to get your dose of South Asian flavor by DJ Rekha. Aanshul has been taking Seattle by a storm with his popular Bollywood mixing style since 2002 and well before that while living in New Delhi over the past several years, he has played with the most famous and influential.
