Terrible night out at the loft. I usually hit st kilda (prince, the saint, etc.) or chapel st for a quieter night. Friends and I decided to change it up and go to this place because it was "voted best saturday night in melbourne" according to their own website. It''s a nice place, and people RAVE about the couches.. but the music is absolutely shitty (''crazy in love'' for example), played by easily the worst dj i have ever heard in a club. no transitions of anything just putting on track after track of shit music. (played "american boy" 3 times.. seriously!.)
Also, I was turned off by the amount of young kids in there. Mostly 18 year olds. If you''re 18 you''ll probably love this place. Ratio is about 100 guys to every 50 girls.
My friends and I were about to leave, but then weren''t even allowed to for 1 1/2 hours because some dumbass kids were stabbing each other and they shut the place down. we just sat around with the lights on and no music for hours not allowed to leave. this isn''t typical i''m sure, but added to my negative opinion of the place. SKIP THE LOFT
