The Standard is a bar where there are lots of females. Having 2 ladies nights on Wednesdays and Fridays-- guys, you will want to show up because there are loads of horny gals scouting for guys. The DJ well let's say winamp does a better job of flowing the songs together. Nonetheless, the tunes are pretty good. It's a comfy place, the bartenders are awesome, and lots of people show. The Standard is known for it's Spin Thursdays and 96X Live Saturdays. This is a place where I love to dance, and get wild.

Imagine a Lamborghini Diablo. Now paint it with crayons. That's what The Standard is like. It has so much potential but they skimp in the important areas. The sound system is the best in Edmonton but the music selection is something you might have heard 10 years ago, with 50 Cent added to the mix. Don't even attempt to deal with the bouncers, and sure as heck don't expect them to do the security part of the job. A fight at The Standard might as well be a street fight. These bouncers are more concerned with "working" the lineup outside than they are doing any form of work inside. Drink prices are decent and the bar staff are great. If you want to drink and won't be bothered by Abba in the background or being blindsided by a fist to the head, you'll like The Standard. Overall, I'd never recommend The Standard to anyone from out of town. There are far better places in Edmonton. You may pass The Standard on the way in from Calgary but keep driving another minute or so until you reach Whyte Ave. Then the fun begins!
