It's easy to describe Le Crocodile quickly as a typical upscale Frech bistro but thats not quite right. Not just a static copy of that traditional European institution, the restaurant has retained many of the signature items of this classical genre; half-curtained windows, formally dressed staff, daily enormous floral displays but has somehow fitten them perfectly into the context of laid back, informal Vancouver.
A place with plently of air and light, Le Crocodile also offers patrons plent of room between tables, so that a dining experience at the restaurant can be a private affair, especially at tables for two (Le Crocodile has more than earned its reputation as one of the most romantic places in the city). The colours are simple and relaxing, the music on the sound system is muted and undemanding, the are on the walls, other than the odd displace of Le Crocodile's
awards, is more than merely tasteful.
To dine at Le Crocodile puts you in a uniquie space. Neither France or Vancouver really, but a unique space somewhere between. |
