I just got back from Hamilton Street an hour ago. I didn't even know the place existed until I saw it listed on one of my Entertainment Book coupons. So today I went there with my girlfriend to try it out (along with my coupon, of course).
Knowing that we could save $24 on our tab (because of the coupon), we decided to order more than we would normally order at a restaurant, including the gorgonzola fondue appetizer and perhaps too many pints of beer. The food was actually quite good and the portions were quite big, so we were satisfied for quite a while.
Well, our good mood and satisfaction came to an abrupt halt when it was time to get the bill. I told her I had an Entertainment Book coupon, and she said, "Sorry, you can't use that today because it is a holiday: Mother's Day!" Huh????? Not once in my life have I ever thought of Mother's Day as a holiday. Then she says, "Did you call your mother today?" (I don't have a mother). Her attitude turned kind of cold after that and she left. When she came back again, I told her, "Mother's Day is not a holiday... who gets a day off work on Mother's day?" And she says, "Oh, Mother's Day is a holiday for some." Anyway, that was it. I couldn't use my coupon!
It is really unfortunate that Hamilton Street Grill cares more about profit that they do about customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, that is a trend you see way too much of in this city. I will definitely never go back there again because of what happened with the coupon. That was unbelievable. It doesn't matter how good the food and atmosphere is in a place; all it takes is one experience of terrible service to ruin a place for life. I'll never recommend it to anyone.
