Established in 1979, Buschlen Mowatt Galleries is a leading gallery of contemporary international art. Acclaimed by the Vancouver Sun for "opening the doors of Vancouver to international art", Buschlen Mowatt has earned a global reputation for showcasing some of the world's most esteemed artists, for producing museum calibre exhibitions and for distinguishing emerging talent. There are two gallery locations. The 6500 sq. ft Vancouver flagship space at 1445 W. Georgia Street and the new 8500 sq. ft gallery in Palm Desert California, which opened on October 1, 2001.
A member of the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC), Buschlen Mowatt and owner Barrie Mowatt have received several awards including the Vancouver Business in Arts Award from the Vancouver Board of Trade and the Ethics in Action award presented by Vancouver City Savings and the Provincial government's Work Ministry. In addition to this, Mr. Mowatt has twice been nominated for Western Canada's Entrepreneur of the Year in the category of socially responsible businesses.
