LE PAPILLON
Voted the most popular French Restaurant in Toronto for its eighth consecutive year by Toronto Sun readers, Le Papillon has been serving style and tradition daily since 1974.
A wonderful French-Canadian restaurant, its casual Mediterranean ambience blends perfectly with the exquisite French Onion Soup, Crępes Bretonnes and Steak au Poivres to name a few, as well as daily specials of fish, pasta, chicken and beef. Le Papillon also offers a children's menu.
Warm and inviting, Le Papillon can accommodate up to 225 diners comfortably. A separately-ventilated smoking area is also available, as well as ample parking facilities close by.
REVIEWS
"Le Papillon is Toronto's original creperie serving crepes Bretonnes…. Inside, traditional Mediterranean stucco gives the dining room a warm, earthy feeling…. Enjoy a variety of quiches or crepes such as the Raphael with shrimps and scallops in a cream sauce, or the fresh spinach and cheddar cheese crepe, ideal for vegetarians…. Spectacular brunch Saturday and Sunday."
Toronto Life Magazine
"Le Papillon is full to capacity during the pre-theatre rush, yet manages to keep up a feeling of calm serenity. The menu of French-Canadian comfort foods probably has a lot to do with it -- stress just melts away when confronted with gooey cheese-topped French onion soup or a boeuf bourguignonne crepe, crusty on the outside, mellow and savoury on the inside."
Where Magazine
"…the decor is best described as chamingly bright and Mediterranean French (reminiscent of Nice or Marseilles, but not Paris)…. Le Papillon is famous for its onion soup and it is easy to see why, coated with tasty emmenthal cheese and filled with chunks of bread, the soup is almost a delightful meal in itself…but if you want a serious French taste experience, just sink your teeth into the Steak au Poivre (steak in a sauce made from Dijon, brandy, cream and peppercorns).… How good is it? Let me put it this way: if I were going to meet the in-laws for the first time, I would take them to Le Papillion and order everyone Steak au Poivre."
