The Berkeley Church was built in 1871, and operated as a church until the 1950’s. At that point it served as a film studio for several decades until 1999 when we began transforming it into one of Toronto’s most interesting event venues. Despite these reincarnations, the Berkeley Church has maintained a historical atmosphere. Architectural details like the original 17-foot stained glass windows maintain the church’s traditional ambiance.

Just as the building itself has been growing, so has our company. We started with just a handful of people and a dream to create something other then a typical event venue. Our staff now includes our management team, a full time chef leading a highly trained kitchen staff, a full time wedding planner, a graphic and web design team, our sales team, and a multitude of servers, bartenders, and security staff all of whom strive to make your event everything you dream of and more.

Over the past 10 years we have been host to some of the biggest names in every industry. Our stage recently has been a platform for top-secret events for Coldplay, Sam Roberts, Finger Eleven, Sloan and many more. We are also host to major events for the Toronto Film Festival, and the corporate world from Fortune 500, Major Banks, and client entertainment for small business.

The church is also the perfect location for a wedding, where history meets modern décor, combined with some of the most amazing food you’ve ever tasted. We offer couples the chance to completely design their day to suit exactly who they are, and what they want.

Venue Info

The Church at Berkeley is approximately 10 000 square feet in total, with a flow between 4 main sections. These can be used in whole, in part, or in transition between segments of one event.

Our Main Floor, can be set to accommodate any style of seating. It is home to our Historic Bar, and Main Stage as well as washrooms for those who would have difficulty with stairs. It also features our signature Grand Arch Wall that can be lit dramatically for an amazing impact.

The Mezzanine level presents an amazing view of all that’s happening down below. It serves as the perfect location for a wedding ceremony, before moving down for cocktails and dinner. Also as additional seating for larger events, or as a VIP area for an event primarily held in the main room.

Move downstairs to our Circa 1871 Lounge & Garden Area for an intimate cocktail reception, smoking area, and to the main washrooms. The 140-year-old stonework has been the backdrop for many photo shoots and movie sets. It makes for a stunning area to host something small, or to get away from the main crowd of a large event.

The Field House is our brand new venue space surrounded by windows looking out to our gorgeous gardens. The Field House also has a beautiful green roof deck overlooking the entire area.
