JAMIE KENNEDY WINE BAR
Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar now offers a prix fixe brunch menu every Sunday between 11:00 am and 3:00pm - your selection of any two items for $20. To view a sample menu for our Sunday brunch, click here. For reservations, please call 416 362 1957.
Reservations are taken for lunch with the last seating at 3:30 p.m. Generally, the room is fully booked a day ahead, but be sure to call mid morning to catch any last minute cancellations. Dial 416 362 1957 - if the line is busy, leave a voice message and we will respond as quickly as possible.
The Wine Bar has only a few tables and a majority of the seating is at one of two bars. If you require a table, please make sure that we know, so that we can best accommodate you. We encourage diners to relax and to explore the many food and wine choices that we offer each day without the pressure of a time limit. For this reason, we take no reservations in the evening.
In the evening, we seat guests in the order in which they arrive. We make every effort to accommodate each party as quickly as we can, and so, parties of two will be offered the first two seats that come available - parties of four will be offered the first group of four seats that come available and so on. Larger groups may experience considerable wait times, as it is difficult to assemble larger groups of seats. Our staff will be able to give you a reasonable estimate of the time it will take. We have a comfortable lounge to accomodate you. Enjoy a cocktail and order from our selected Tapas menu for a light bite to eat while you wait for a table. If you prefer to leave your mobile number, our staff will contact you when seating is available. If you have any questions or comments regarding reservations at Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar, please call 416 362 1957.
In an exception to our "first come, first served" policy for dinner in the Wine Bar, we will accept one reservation each evening in exchange for a donation of $50 per person to SeaChoice. SeaChoice is a comprehensive seafood markets program with the primary goal of realizing sustainable fisheries in Canada and abroad. A charitable gift receipt will be issued to the generous donor. For more information about SeaChoice, please visit their website at www.seachoice.ca.

JAMIE KENNEDY RESTAURANT
REVIEW
Toronto golden boy Jamie Kennedy launched his own experiment a few years
back with the wildly popular JK Wine Bar, where tapa-sized dishes are paired
with splashes of rare wine. Now he’s opened an adjacent restaurant with a
more standard three course menu format based on his love of local organically produced,
hearty ingredients.
The minimalist dining room feels like a Scandinavian designer’s loft, with plenty of well thought out space using just the right wood touches. At the centre of it all, a giant cube of sandwiched dark plywood layers has tables backing onto three sides, the seats built right into the sculpture. Giant low hanging blown glass orbs bathe the rest of the wooden tables and chairs in soft white light, providing an airy yet intimate atmosphere.
Sommeliers pair courses with apropos picks from the encyclopedic wine cellar, suggesting a taster of saccharine St. Urbans-Hof Riesling to accompany Streets of Toronto: an appetizer tasting trio of garlicky sesame sprinkled cuttlefish, buttery wild mushroom puff pastry, and gourmet poutine (a late night Quebec street snack revved up with fresh au-jus gravy and aged cheddar). An entrée of roasted pheasant lets loose crisp skinned, tender bites of soul heating goodness, glistening in the rich red wine reduction it was braised in. Moist and not-too sugary ginger crusted strawberry linzertorte caps the meal, the slight tartness of the fruit smoothed out by a dollop of melting vanilla bean whipped cream. FEATURE - JAMIE KENNEDY
One of Canada’s most celebrated chefs, Jamie Kennedy is known for his legendary commitment to environmental issues and his support for organic agriculture, local producers and traditional methods. Fundamental to everything Jamie Kennedy does is an underlying respect for the products he buys and sells, and the world we live in. This translates into choices about the fish we buy, the meat and vegetables we serve and increasingly the wines we choose to offer. Jamie makes every effort to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment, and we continuously search out like-minded suppliers and better methods of work.
When Jamie set out in the craft of cooking, he respected the traditional approach to apprenticing; working for one Chef for 3 years under whose tutelage one learns basic kitchen skills, including how to manage staff and achieve life balance with one’s career as a Chef. Having graduated from the cook apprenticeship program at George Brown in 1977, Jamie finessed his cooking training and experience as Journeyman Cook in Europe from 1977 – 1979. In this evolving learning environment, Jamie experienced what he describes as “a gradual awakening to gastronomy.”
...
A devoted supporter of our ecological systems and with great concern for the welfare of our environment, Jamie has spoken for such causes as the Endangered Fish Alliance, World Wildlife Foundation, Living Ocean Society and Seafood Watch, to name a few.
